This potting mix is comprised mostly of mulch. It is filled with wood fragments and, therefore, cannot accept moisture. The water separates from the mix which results in an odd, soupy substance.
Cons: Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Be careful with this if you have pets

Great for hanging plants, but if your plants are within your pet's reach, they may actually eat this dirt. It actually seems to attract them, because my dogs have never done this before. My local nursery has heard of other customers noticing this also. I'm not sure what effect the moisture crystals may have on a dog's health, but I'm not taking any chances. I have repotted all the 'reachable' pots I used this soil in.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Directions
Cons: attractive to pets

Great product

I bought my wife a mini rose plant for her birthday and noticed later on that it needed to be kept moist or the leaves would quickly start to wither. Well the watering responsibility rested on me and I soon got tired of being the water bearer every other day to keep it alive. We purchased the moisture control potting soil and now my water duty is about every ten days and the rose is thriving. This product saves me a lot of work and worry.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't drain

Not sure what is in the moisture control potting mix but it holds water and does not drain well. Almost everything I planted in it this year died. Won't use it again.

Not sure why the specs don't include anything specific. Used last year for herbs and they grew ok but I'm very curious about other options. I don't trust this product.

Poor resultsj

I bought your moisture control mix. This was a big mistake. It has ruined my tomatoes, beans, peppers, lettuce and herbs. It has grown fingus and mushrooms we did not plant. I use Parks seeds which have always grown exceptionally well. After our experience this year with your growing mix, we will make our own. We not only lost our costs but for years crops which we supplement our food with.

Bad product

This used to be the best product you could buy. Over the past few years it has gotten worse and worse. I think the problem is that it is old and has lost most of its fertilizer if not all of it. I sincerely hope this company goes broke

Moisture Control potting soil mix

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Miricle grow soil is the only ones i ever use, after finding that other sor companies add, bark sticks and rocks.
The reason i use the moisture control soil is that i have dozens of large pots filled with trees, dogwood, corkscrew willow, maple, bamboo and cannas, snapdragons, rose, delphinium, Lily of the nile.
The pots sit out on my driveway and the heat gets hot during summer, well until i started using the moisture control soil i was losing a few plants a year due to drought. I try and water everyday but it wasn't enough. With the moisture control I no longer have to worry about the plants dying or the soil hard panning.
Sometimes i mix the moisture control with other miracle grow soil and that works fine too. If you are doing pots and containers you just have to use moisture control
