Disappointing

I bought 3 large bags of this product in the past year and the soil inside was bone-dry all 3 times. It appears to be a new way to save on shipping costs; however it severely compromises the quality of the product. I used to love this soil. I’d top up all my planters twice a year and my mature houseplants were always lush and stunning. They all barely survived two applications of the compromised product this year. I wish you’d understand that people who buy your products are passionate about their plants. I nearly lost plants I’ve been gently tending to for 15+ years, because the quality of the product changed without warning.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When that happens, they become naturally water-repellent due to the peat moss and organic materials. Poor quality

I have been purchasing Miracle Gro products for years. About a month ago, I bought 3 bags of the potting mix with moisture control. The mix is full of mulch chunks & shreds along with a piece of metal. With minimal perlite and no fertilizer beads that I have always seen in the past. Upon opening the bag, there was a musty/moldy smell. I won’t purchase again. I placed the metal piece in the center of the pot so you can see it. Need to zoom.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Bad Odor
Pros: Easy to Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Root rot in petunias

I bought 2 big bags of this last year. I unknowing was killing my petunias because this stuff never died out enough for them! I almost lost a Hosta for the same reason. I'm just glad I didn't plant anything else in this stuff. Still have one bag left that I'm going to try adding some amendments to and hopefully fix whatever you put too much of in these bags.
I have always bought Miracle Gro products, including this moisturizer control soil. Never had this problem 20 years ago!

All of our potting mixes including the moisture control ones are formulated to allow excessive water to move through the soil and drain out the bottom of the pot. Be sure to check the bottom of the container verify that there is an open drainage hole. Our garden soil and topsoil's are not recommend for use in pots, as these soils won't drain properly in a container.

Moisture control really does make a difference!

My Mom and I decided to test how well the MoistureControl potting mix works last year. We both purchased the same plants, at the same nursery, at the same time ...she planted hers in regular potting soil in hanging baskets, and I planted mine in MoistureControl in the same type of hanging basket. We watered ours at the same times, and we only live a half mile away from each other so weather conditions were the same also. Mine grew huge and had almost twice as many flowers as hers(with the MoistureControl mix). Hers did well, but weren't as lush and flowery as mine. Needless to say were were both shocked at the difference!
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

Always purchased between 6 and 10 bags minimum every year of the Miracle Grow Moisture Control Plus (larger bag 16 Qt) Never had an issue with product, even for seed starting. This year however, it doesn't even look the same. It is a lighter mixture and looks more like shaved or ground up wood mix. Apparently, the formula was changed on the mix. Very unhappy with product and will look for an alternative. Will not purchase again.

Worst soil ever.

Bought 2 bags of this product to repot 2 indoor plants. They are both over 25 years old, repotted last time 4 years ago. So far the large Dracaena Marginata plant dropped 75% of the leaves after 2 1/2 weeks, and 5 ft out the tips of the branch was rotting!!! The Benjamin Ficus dropped about 30% of its leaves after 2 1/2 weeks. I decided to repot with a different plant medium after 2 1/2 weeks, while doing so I noticed the roots were indeed rotting. So, so disappointed and heart broken my beautiful plants looked like they were dying. I will not ever use the product ever again. The worst potting soil I have ever come across.
