The soil gets extremely wet and will not dry out when top watering. I found a lot of stuff that was not potting soil in the mix including pieces of car safety glass. Not cool.
Cons: Didn't work as expected

Smell too much chemicals!

I bought 5 bags ( large) about a month ago. The soil stinks too much . I put it out in the sun to dry for a couple days and the smell still there . I had bought this before and never had such a strong odor . I had a great experience before with it . I believe is the fertilizer, the color looks different ( yellowish , not whitish ). How can I get rid of the smell? I would buy gain if it’s fixable cause other than that a good product

Too Much Peat!

This soil dries out so quickly that I have to water the porch plants everyday instead of a couple of times a week. And if it's dry in the bag when purchased, it's very difficult to get it to absorb water at all - you can see the peat floating up and the water just drains straight out of the pot. I am going to search for another brand after decades of relying on Miracle Gro potting soil.

Uneven moisture

Have been using Miracle Gro moisture control for six months. Recently repotting (salvaging) the remains of plants that did not do well, I found very uneven moisture. In fact, some root balls of the dying plants were dust dry while the soil around them was well moistened. Digging a little further, I found many, many dry as dust areas surrounded by moist areas. I’m not a novice at watering and believe my watering habits are fine. For some reason, a slow top down watering, moistening all parts of the surface till the water drains into the saucer, sits a bit and is emptied, is not providing even watering. I think this is why so many of my plants have not thrived. The root balls were not compacted.

Repotted using Miracle gro potting mix moisture control and I started seeing fungus literally the first week. I was being lazy and didn’t go to my local nursery where they mix my soil for me. Repotting again ASAP and hope my plant survives.

Not well draining

Says it protects against over and under watering, the soils been consistently wet for days the top hasn’t even dried at all, not to mention that all of the soil that was again the plastic inside the package was covered in mold.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Problem with label, Messy

We have always used Miracle Gro potting mix. My husband bought the moisture control this time, we are hot and dry….No, all my flowers are dying!!! Different pots, different flowers, all dying!!!! Over $100 worth and dying! I am not happy! I have already pulled several dead plants.

Dries out quickly even in a self watering pot.

Definitely not the same product that I have used since it came out. Sad that my ferns are dieing when I am away for several days. Bring back the good stuff in the green bag.
