Full of Sticks!

I bought the Miracle-Gro as a splurge thinking it would be superior to the cheaper potting mixes I usually buy. It was FULL of sticks, large and medium size throughout the bag. It was really disappointing, I was expecting a high quality soil, not a bunch of sticks!
Cons: Didn't work as expected

Wet soil & gnats!!

This was my first time using miracle grow moisture control. I do not recommend.
I experienced two issues, that I thought were unrelated - until now:
I experienced two issues, that I thought were unrelated - until now:
1) This soil remains moist. For a long time. I have a large number of plants, most all have been repotted within the last 2-3 months in this soil. Some in ceramic, some in clay, some in plastic pots. Every pot stays wet. It doesn’t matter what the pot is made of. Even the terracotta stays wet. The top inch doesn’t even dry. It is extremely difficult to maintain watering your plants when the soil has been wet for weeks. I have started to loose a monstera to root rot. I have repotted in different soil and am hoping for the best.
I came to the miracle grow website to find the ingredients so I can figure out what I might mix in with the soil to help my plants! This is where I discovered problem #2....
2) GNATS!! Over the last couple months I’ve been battling gnats in nearly every plant. I am extremely persistant and go after them every day in hopes of preventing them from getting out of control. I have been trying to let the soil dry out (gnats hate dry), but as you know from my problem number one, the soil isn’t drying.
I never thought that the gnats were because of the soil!!

This is so frustrating. All the time and care we put into our plants. You never think that what is supposed to be doing them good is actually doing them harm.

Protects against over and under watering NOT

I bought miracle gro blue bag said protects against under watering and over watering. I am see that a green fungus has formed and the soil seems to be killing my plants slowly. I do no recommend this product to anyone. This is a disgrace to the potting soil world.

Gnats Everywhere

After using other products for years, I bought Miracle Gro potting soil and boy do I regret it. I've got gnats everywhere! The new plants were all very healthy when they were initially potted and now they're either dead or dying, 10 in total!
Also, I gifted a few to my son for his new apartment and his place is as infested as mine, how embarrassing. This is a mess, we've got sticky strips hanging, spray, sand on top, and dying plants. Miracle gro, not at all, it'll be a miracle if the plants survive. It seems to be more of an issue than just a bad batch since there are so many people with the same problem.

Plants are dying!

I feel like this soil holds TOO much water. I’m afraid my plants are drowning in it! I transplanted serval potted plants using this soil and they are all dying. I water once and all pots have drainage holes, yet the soil stays saturated for weeks. Would not recommend.

FUNGAS GNATS!!!!!!

I'm VERY disappointed, it was time to repot, so I potted my Hoyas in the Cactus mix and later, my house, and living room, where the plants are in a window, had been infested by these fungus gnats coming from my newly potted plants with Miracle grow Cactus soil! I went back the store bought 2 more bags of the same cactus mix, thinking I'll wash and repot them in new soil. WELL, when I opened the first bag, 10-15 fungus Gnats flew out at me. I then opened the second bag a purchased and the same thing happened again. Threw both bags in the trash. This is disgusting, I guess every bag has gnats that come with it, what a GARBAGE product.

Fungus gnats do not harm humans and do little plant damage (they primarily feed on the fungus found naturally in soil). Possible ways to control fungus gnats include allowing the soil to dry out as much as possible between watering to help control the larvae. Applying at least 1/2 inch of horticultural sand on top of the soil. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. Do not use play sand in planter soil. The fine granules can turn the soil very hard and there will be issues with drainage. Fungus gnats and soil mites!! Will never buy again

I am so disappointed in this product. I have been experiencing both fungus gnats and now soil mites for six months! I have over 40 plants and now having to re-pot nearly half of them because I didn’t notice that the soil was invested with pests. This is a waste of my time and money and I will never trust this brand again. I have also lost numerous plants from trying to treat the fungus gnats which is also a waste of money that was caused from miracle grow!

Garbage

I just opened a bag of the Moisture Control Potting Mix and it is made up of wood and roots! This stuff is garbage. I've used this product in past years without a problem and have never seen such poor quality control.
Cons: Difficult to use
