Does not work as promised

I applied this product 13 days ago according to the instructions. We had an inch and a half of rain since but not all at once so it has definitely been watered in. I see no difference in the greening of the lawn. I used Scotts Halts for crabgrass control a few months ago and had better results with that.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected, doesn't green the lawn
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry that you did not receive the fertilizer response that you expected from Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. To get the most out of any fertilizer, we recommend that you maintain your lawn with adequate water and regular feedings. When mowing, remove no more than 1/3 of the grass blade at a time. If repeated applications of fertilizer fail to green the lawn, we recommend that you purchase a soil test kit to check the soil pH. A pH imbalance will prevent the lawn from absorbing fertilizer, even if you apply heavily. Also, keep in mind the physical condition of the soil in your yard. Compacted soil, or soil that is very sandy or is mostly clay will not provide an ideal growing condition for turf. Consider core aeration in combination with topdressing. Aeration is the process of poking small holes into the soil using rental power equipment. Topdressing involves applying a thin layer (no more than 1/4 inch thick) of compost or topsoil to the entire surface of the lawn. Scotts Lawn Soil applied in this fashion may greatly improve the turf's response to fertilizer. We want you to be confident in our products. It does make the lawn look greener and lush

I just used this on St. Augustine grass (Houston, TX, end of July).
After 2-3 days, I can see the benefits, it is really working.
Just make sure not to overdo. Scotts has videos on Youtube on how to fertilize properly.

Badly stained all non-grass surfaces

Be very careful when applying. Product says stain free, but badly stained my cool deck around pool. Left 2" in circumference yellow stains. I also accidentally got few granules in my pool and stained badly. The pool was totally my fault, but it stained everything that was not grass. My driveway, sidewalk, and you can even see yellow/brownish stains around street edge. Very unfortunate to have this problem. I've been using scotts products for 15 years with no issues. This is 1st time i've written a negative review and did so to make sure no-one else has my same experience. My deck will need to be re-painted.

Cons: Messy, stains non-grass surface

Must Have for Iron Deficient Lawns

Ever since I found this product it's all I use.
I get many compliments on my lawn from neighbors.
A soil test revealed our soil needs iron and nitrogen. This product is perfect for our lawn.

Beautiful Lawn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fast green up of spring lawn. Applied as instructed and I had a noticeable difference in two days and a beautiful green lawn in three days. I had to water my lawn because Mother Nature wouldn't cooperate and give me rain. Very pleased with this fertilizer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not have enough Scotts Green MAX for my backyard lawn so I used it only on my front lawn. In some ways this validated how well it works. Front lawn, same kind of grass as my back lawn, is much greener and lush looking as my back lawn. It took about a week to see the difference. Follow directions on the package.

So our front and side lawn was a mess. I put down new top soil Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed. Then I used Scotts Green Max Lawn Food and within 2 weeks I have a new green lawn.I could not be happier.Thanks
