This fertilizer is AWESOME! I have been using in place of buying iTunes separately. ... major cost savings. ... Long lasting dark green with time release.
Used to use cheap fertilizer. .. Had to apply twice as much. .. yard would gen up and then fade. .. repeat!
Now apply and stays dark luscious green for a long time!!!
Little science 101: All iron "RUSTS"!!!! So avoid concrete. .. blow, sweep, wash off!
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective, best yard in neighborhood!!!!
Cons: read instructions: clean up and avoid concrete. .

I used this product for the first time late last summer and it worked unbelievably. Greened my lawn very quickly. This spring, I had my lawn aerated and then spread green max on it and it looks the best it ever has this early in the spring. I am totally convinced that this fertilizer does exactly what they say it will do.
Pros: Quality, Effective, quick greening power

Grass is lush and green. This works as promised

Max Green works as promised, and the lawn is greener than ever.
For those giving this low ratings because it stained your concrete, you need to read instructions. The instructions of use CLEARLY state to sweep off any of the Max Green from concrete before watering.
HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY REMINDER: Iron rusts when meeting H20. Therefore, iron leaves stains when it's on concrete and water is applied.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

This is the worst fertilizer I have ever used. I would not use it again if someone paid me. It left rust stains all over my driveway and walking paths. It doesn't matter how green the lawn is now because all the concrete looks terrible!
Cons: Messy

Did a Great Job

I started the season with the Turf Builder + Halts, then Grub-Ex when the temps were 55-60. Then I decided to try Green Max after about 6-8 weeks after the Turf builder. The Max did green up the lawn after 3-4 days with little watering, and now after another 7 weeks, Green Max again, with the only problem being some clover in the lawn. You will be cutting every 3-5 days, but a deep green. Remember to sweep or blow off walk and driveway. I carry Weed B Gone on my tractor for the clover/weeds, and spray as I cut. Next season I'll incorporate a bug killer, because I've seen some moths as I cut.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

I've used this product for a number of years now. I highly recommend it. It does appear, however, that other users should read the label and follow the instructions prior to usings. Iron will stain your hard surfaces. I've never had an issue with it doing so but i've followed the directions. My lawn is thick, green, and healthy. Product works great, works as directed, and is a staple in my lawn care.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality

I applied Green Max per instructions & made sure it was watered in. So far, I see no improvement in the color of my lawn. My lawn is 8000 sq ft & I put down 2 of the 4 bags I purchased hoping to use the other 2 bags in about 6 weeks. Now I'm not sure if I will!!
Cons: Didn't work as expected, no change in color of grass

We are sorry that you did not receive the fertilizer response that you expected from Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. To get the most out of any fertilizer, we recommend that you maintain your lawn with adequate water and regular feedings. When mowing, remove no more than 1/3 of the grass blade at a time.
If repeated applications of fertilizer fail to green the lawn, we recommend that you purchase a soil test kit to check the soil pH. Soil pH should be between 5.5 - 7.5 for lawns. If it is outside this range, add lime (to raise pH) or soil sulfur (to lower pH) at least once a year in spring or fall. A pH imbalance will prevent the lawn from absorbing fertilizer, even if you apply heavily.
Also, keep in mind the physical condition of the soil in your yard. Compacted soil, or soil that is very sandy or is mostly clay will not provide an ideal growing condition for turf. Consider core aeration in combination with topdressing. Aeration is the process of poking small holes into the soil using rental power equipment. Topdressing involves applying a thin layer (no more than 1/4 inch thick) of compost or topsoil to the entire surface of the lawn. Scotts Lawn Soil applied in this fashion may greatly improve the turf's response to fertilizer.
