This product brought the grass to a deep rich green in a matter of a few days. Then again, timing is everything. We go a nice rain shower the day after I applied it. The grass looks the best it has since it waas brand new.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: stains unless it is completely removed
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Fertilizer

Scotts Green Max has worked very well for me. Northern Colorado is known for it's dry climate and hot summers. This spells trouble for our lawns. I've used several of "Colorado's own" fertilizer with mixed results. I've applied Scotts Green Max twice this summer and I have to say our lawn has never looked better. The high iron content has made all the difference. Green Max spreads easily.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

I have been using Scott's products for the last five years. Living in Texas with the heat I thought I try this product since never had issues with turfbuilder. Yard never really got green and yard seems to be worst after using this product. Guess I learned my lesson and stick with the turfbuilder. Waste of money and my time.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't get the results that you expected. We expect Scotts GreenMax Lawn Food to provide a deep green to your lawn. Grass that is in summer dormancy may not respond well to fertilizers. Apply when temperatures are between 65 and 85 degrees to get the best results.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Did anyone else have issues with it killing their grass?

I was so excited when getting this product and couldn't wait to have the lawn neighbors would be jealous of. I read about the damage it could do to the concrete and tried to be as careful as possible. Turns out that was the least of my problems. My grass is now dead/ dying. The yard that was home to kid soccer games and baseball games now is full of huge dead patches. My yard is a mess!!!
Trying to find out if others had this issue.
Pros: Good Directions
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whatever benefit this product does for the grass is more than offset by the damage it does to your driveway and sidewalk.
Yes, read the directions and it will tell you that this product is terrible.
Don't use it. It's not worth it. I can't believe Scott's makes a product that is so destructive to personal property.
Pros: Easy to Use, none
Cons: Messy, destroys property
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear about the staining that has occurred on your driveway after the application of Scotts Green MAX Lawn Food. The fertilizer has a high iron content which may stain concrete, as indicated on the back of the bag. Thankfully there are cleaning solutions available that remove rust stains from concrete, and while they are not guaranteed by Scotts, here are a few that have been proven to work in these situations:

-Signature Concrete Rust Remover
-Goof Off Rust Stain Remover Outdoors
-Super Iron Out Outdoor

Please refer to the product labeling before applying any of these products. In order to ensure that the cleaning solution itself will not cause more damage, I would suggest using it only on a small test area first.

We want you to be confident in our products, which is why we offer a product guarantee to our customers. Please contact us at your earliest convenience with the information that can be found by following the link below.

What a mess! Do not purchase!

I have used Scott's products religiously for the past 3 years. I love the way my lawn looks. This product is horrible. I followed the recommend instructions for the application of this product. I did my normal routine of both using my leaf blower and sweeping all of my concrete where this product landed by accident. I kicked back and relaxed for the evening. We received a pretty good rainstorm and when I walked out on my back patio (that is brand new) there was rust stains everywhere (see picture below) all of my sidewalks looked the same way. I am not sure if the wind might have blown some over or what, but this should not happen. Scott's, most people that utilize this product have concrete driveways and sidewalks. This is rediculous. I spent the next day (over 8 hours) pressure washing and applying rust remover product (unrust) that cost me over $350 in materials and I still can't get it off of my brand new patio.
Pros: none
Cons: Messy, Didn't work as expected, Difficult to use, the iron content ruins your concrete!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear about the damage to concrete or pavers that occurred after using Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. The iron in Green Max Lawn Food may stain as indicated on the back of the label. The quicker a stain removal process is begun, the more effective the process will be. Sunlight and water will help to fade the iron stains from the product on outdoor surfaces, but will not completely remove them. While not endorsed or guaranteed by Scotts, the following products have shown to be effective at removing iron stains from regular concrete and are registered for this use:

-Singerman Laboratories Concrete Rust Remover (only available on-line at The Rust Store)
-Goof Off Rust Stain Remover Outdoors
-Super Iron Out Outdoor

We suggest you refer to the product label before applying any product to an iron-stained surface. Before using any commercial cleaning products to remove stains, test a small area to make sure the cleaner itself does not cause damage. Most stain removal products work best with two applications.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Staining Can Be Avoided

I also encountered staining the first time I used this product last year. A container of Super Iron Out cleaned up the rust stains (mix solution; spray to saturate; agitate with brush; power wash off residue). The product label suggests sweeping away the granules which will not work. I used my leaf blower on low setting to move the granules into the lawn AND followed up with a spray from my garden hose to catch any loose granules, again spraying in a sweeping motion to move the granules into the lawn. I then hand-watered the entire lawn with a light spray. Perfect! No staining this time and the lawn looks fabulously green. Don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews about using this product. The label clearly and distinctly (red letters on a yellow background) states the staining issue. Pay attention, put a little effort into the process, and make yourself proud (and your neighbors jealous) of your lawn.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective
Cons: don't sweep - use a leaf blower.
