Greenest lawn in your neighborhood

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this Scotts Green Max for several years. Apply from June 1 to September 30 once every 5-6 weeks. Apply at a rate slightly lower than that recommended on the bag. At this rate it does not burn the lawn. Within a few days after application, your lawn will be visibly more green and within 1 week you'll have a deep green, lush lawn that will be the envy of your neighborhood.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

This product is terrible. Even when you think you have removed all the product off your sidewalk the run off stains your sidewalk and concrete. I have used Trugreen for years and tried this product once and I will never use it again.
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IT WILL RUIN YOUR CONCRETE EVEN IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: Messy, stains concrete
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ruined my cement
on May 31, 2014

I've used fertilizers for years w/o a problem. Picked this one up on a whim. I couldn't figure out why my cement was orange. It never occurred to me it was the fertilizer. Then I used it again and it turned slightly orange to completely orange. That's when I figured out this product damaged my cement. I've used goof off to get some of it off, but can't get it completely out. Also used something that damaged my cement. Would love to get a refund, can't believe this product is on retail shelves. Stay away!!
Pros: rust, horrible
Cons: Messy, Didn't work as expected, Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear about the staining to your concrete that occurred after using Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. The iron in Green Max Lawn Food may stain as indicated on the back of the label. The quicker a stain removal process is begun, the more effective the process will be. Sunlight and water will help to fade the iron stains from the product on outdoor surfaces, but will not completely remove them. While not endorsed or guaranteed by Scotts, the following products have shown to be effective at removing iron stains from regular concrete and are registered for this use:
-Signature Concrete Rust Remover -Goof Off Rust Stain Remover Outdoors -Super Iron Out Outdoor
We suggest you refer to the product label before applying any product to an iron-stained surface. Before using any commercial cleaning products to remove stains, test a small area to make sure the cleaner itself does not cause damage. Most stain removal products work best with two applications.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

I followed the instructions on the bag. It says you should see results in about 3 days. In reality, you should start to see results in about a week. I have used this product in the past and received great results. I highly recommend this product, as it will not burn your lawn, if you don't water right away. Be sure to sweep off of the concrete. If you fail to remove all the product from your concrete, it will leave rust stains on your driveway and sidewalk.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective, goof proof
I would recommend this to a friend!

Rust on concrete even after blowing it off AND sweeping

Not worth it. I was so determined that I wasn't going to have rust stains on my concrete that I used a blower to blow everything off and then went over it all with a push broom. Then I used a high pressure hose to spray off the sidewalk while hoping that any fertilizer that I might have missed would be washed away before causing stains. Nope! Wrong!!! My beautiful concrete is ruined. It's like the fertilizer immediately bonded to the concrete. Again, it didn't do much good to blow off the dry concrete and then sweep it. I tried Goof Off Rust and Stain Remover that didn't do anything to the rust but left nice white spots are to highlight the rust. I will NEVER use this fertilizer again. If you want green grass without all the problems of rust stains then look into using epsom salt. Cheaper and no rust. I will use other Scotts fertilizers, just not this one.
Cons: Messy, Didn't work as expected, rust!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I use Green Max with the spreader that has the edge control on the one side. The product is easy to use and it greens in about a week... my lawn is full, green and very plush from using only Scotts products. I would not use anything else except Scotts. The Scott's reminders of which product to use and when to use them has been a tremendous help. Thanks Scotts...
