Perfectly GREEN Grass!
on May 28, 2024

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this product. I have used it for years and have had terrific results. The only downside I see is that I have to mow WAY more frequently - but that's a result of a healthy, green lawn! I will say that I have Pacific Palisades Zoysia grass and one year I put it on too early. The lawn didn't green up for weeks - but this was MY mistake. You can put down as much feed or fertilizer as you want - but it won't make a difference if the temperature isn't warm enough for this type of grass.

We sincerely apologize for the issues you have encountered with our Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. When used according to label instructions the product does not damage grass. While there is a safety factor built into the product, too much product or overlapping can cause damage. We recommend a watering program of 1/2" of water every 2 to 3 days. Follow this watering plan for at least 3 weeks following the application. Most lawns will recover given time. We want you to be confident in our products; this is why we offer a product guarantee. June last year our lawn was not great. We watered and put green max on. Within 3 days we could see some differences. After 3 weeks the lawn looked better it had ever looked. Dark green during summer. We did the Fall application. Lawn looks great now in March. We Just put the Spring application. Great product!!

Built a new home and wanted my lawn to look great. Now I have rust stains all over my new driveway. The warning needs to be front and center on the back and front of the bag. I've used Scotts before but now I'm second guessing my decision.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, Problem with label, Difficult to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first time I have used this lawn food. Easy to use - just put it down and wait. We had a lot of rain so I only waited a few days and couldn't believe how dark green my grass turned. We have the best lawn on the block.

Waste of Money

This did absolutely nothing! I followed the directions and application to a T. This product says Deep Green in 3 Days right on the bag... Well thats a lie. There is absolutely no difference in my grass. I applied it on a sunny day, the grass was wet the next morning from dew over night with temps between 68-75 and the following day had a few sprinkles. Not sure how much better weather you could get for fertilizer but that didn't seem to help at all.

We are sorry to hear of your experience with Scotts Green Max Lawn Food. The most common reason a lawn does not respond to fertilizer is soil pH. Soil pH must be between 5.5-7.5 for fertilizer to be absorbed by the grass. Perform a soil pH test.
