However I had to send it back literally within 3 weeks of purchasing due to the computer breaking down after an update. Maybe it was a lemon of an update, maybe a lemon of a production, but this has been super frustrating.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm a grad student who needs a machine that can handle complex data analysis programs and large datasets, but is still easily portable and with good graphics for visual design. I've worked with Dell and HP in the past, but switched to Lenovo when my last HP started to have major lags in the OS and even began to physically fall apart because of the poor quality plastic outer materials. This ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the best laptop I've had so far for doing the job. Very worth the investment!

The battery life in this laptop is phenomenal. I've had it last over 14 hours.
This laptop preforms amazingly fast. With the amount of memory and CPU, I can do anything that I would do on my desktop.
And the final thing. The trackpoint! So versatile.

Display in Uncontrollable, Makes Prodcut Worthless

The computer works pretty well except for one thing: the display dims after 20 seconds, then turns off. I spent time with Lenovo support, Microsoft support, and researching individually - ultimately didn't find any solutions. This is the second and final Lenovo I waste my time with.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
