[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second purchase of a Lenovo computer and consider this purchase experience by far the best one. After selecting my computer online, I contacted customer service who confirmed my selection and provided additional discounts. The speed of shipping and receiving was also amazingly quick.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The package arrived on time and in great condition. The computer is fast and responsive. I wish the webcam had slightly higher resolution.
Coming from ThinkPad X220, now X1 Carbon Gen 9, I am ThinkPad customer since 12 years, running Ubuntu only. ThikPad never denied me service as I need it, Linux/Ubuntu did always as expected.
To be more X1 specific: I ordered Lenovo standard from shelve, MS pre-installed. Created USB flash ISO for Ubuntu, X1 booted from flash, reconfigured disk (1TB) partitions - I am keeping MS parallel to Ubuntu in case I need MS for some exotic reason - and installed Ubutntu 20 from USB flash drive, booted from disk - DONE.
My X1, 10 CPU cores, 16 MB RAM, 5GB WiFi - there is music in it. Installation worked just fine and straight. I am using 25" monitor (X1 integrated HDMI port), wireless logitech keybord&mouse (2x X1 USB-A port) - that's all need to fulfill all my (professional) needs.
Context of my work: software developer, using mainly PyCharm (very complex IDE) and all the plug ins what makes the efficiency much higher. There is a lot going on in background - and so I love the X1 performance. The only one think I have 'acclimate' to: the thunderbolt fast execution of tasks - usually symptom that something didn't work well - but that's the not the case on X1, just flash fast.
Lenovo is offering warranty extension for 5 years (and some add on options, like service&parts in place, +international, software/hardware hotline and so). I enjoy to purchase this options, to have the best possible situation JUST IN CASE YOU NEED IT. Never happened with my X220 - but you never know. So I hope to have another hassle free 12 years ... then we will see.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just bought the very base model for $1229.50. I only use the computer for Microsoft Office and surfing the web, so the 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD and all other standard features are more than sufficient for me. I kept my previous two laptops for 8 years and 9 years respectively and they still worked, they were just too slow for today's programs. I can definitely tell that the build quality of this laptop is superior. The battery appears to be easily replaceable when the time comes after watching some videos. The keyboard takes some getting used to, as the buttons are somewhat difficult to push down, reaching Shift and Backspace take some learning, and the Function and Control keys are reversed for some reason.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great laptop overall, I’m happy with almost every aspect of it, it’s just a little on the expensive side.
