Seems like there are some "early adopter" bugs that will hopefully be addressed. The biggest issue I have is that I have not found a way to turn off the "auto standby" where the computer recognizes you've walked away from the PC. I run multiple pieces of software that requires a persistent connection that is broken every time I go to the bathroom.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The X1 Carbon Gen 9 laptop is nice little laptop. It’s super lightweight yet has a good screen size. 32GB of RAM and user upgradable SSD is awesome. The CPU is ok for most things. This laptop can play some games that aren’t too intensive. So if old PC games are your thing, you will be fine. The chassis is strong and rigid. Battery life is good where I get about 5 hours doing coding and browsing.
This laptop lacks an SD card slot which is a bummer, but it works great over thunderbolt 3 to a TS3 Plus dock. The fingerprint reader doesn’t work very well at all and my model doesn’t have an IR camera so I can’t do Windows Hello.
The biggest problem with this laptop is the graphics card. If an external monitor is plugged in, it engages the discreet GPU all the time and that causes the fans to constantly run. I had to disable GPU acceleration in Chrome because the chip couldn’t keep up and YT would constantly keep lowering the quality. This will hopefully be resolved in a year or two once Intel can make faster and more efficient chips.
All-in-all, it’s a good laptop and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice laptop for work and browsing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really disappointed with this device and the port replicator. Bluetooth range is horrible -- actually useless. Port Replicator is as buggy as a nest of fire ants. Monitors disconnect at random and sometimes go blue/red. Takes a restart or unplugging the connection to reset. The presence auto sense is a most annoying feature and had to be turned off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great machine. I had an earlier version of the X1 and it performed flawlessly. I really like the keyboard on the X1 and of course the weight and durability. Would recommend it as an all around great computer.
