[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best premium alternative to Apple notebook for users running primarily Office productivity software. Only major complaint is the grainy camera. In 2021 it should be HD for video calls.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the third ThinkPad I bought for myself. I bought ThinkPad's for my kids in college. I was given ThinkPad's to use in several jobs over the past 25 years. They say, "Don't mess with perfection". The stellar keyboard, build quality, display and performance have always been part of this line of products. But they also have become thinner and lighter while available CPU, chipset, memory and SSD choices are very competitive. Not only have my ThinkPad's stood up to daily commutes on the NYC subway, I also carry them on international travel. My new X1 builds software projects in Visual Studio faster than ever, The large raw files of my full-frame Nikon DSLR render quickly during tethered shooting in the studio and processing in Photoshop is as fast as I've ever experienced on a laptop. I only wish there was a small Lenovo USB hub that not only had USB(-C), HDMI and SD but also an Ethernet port.

Laptop is great EXCEPT I've never had so much annoying trouble with all the security and other issues. Given that I'm very computer savvy and I've replaced my laptop every 2 or 3 years for decades, this is saying a lot. For example, every time I step away from it, it goes to sleep. All my power settings are 15 minutes or greater to sleep or shutdown. I can literally step 5 feet away and it goes to sleep within 15 seconds. It then takes seconds to come back and moves all my windows to the top left. I have a 45 inch monitor with lots of windows open, so this is really annoying.
I've tried everything I can find on google and support sites, and it still goes to sleep.
It's also taken days to figure out how to kill all the notifications and unhelpful help.
My last few Dell's did not have these issues. Lenova apparently is different.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like the light weight, portability, and boot up speed that from having and SSD. I dislike the pronounced whirring sound it makes when running. Loud enough to be distracting.
