Had this for 5 years now, still works like new

I use my Traeger 2 to 3 days a week and every weekend: rain, snow or shine... Even in Sub-Zero temps. I have had only 1 flame-out in those 5 years (1st time used it, didn't let it preheat long enough). I'd buy another if this one ever dies after rebuilding the replaceable parts that wear out a few times.

#1 portable grill?

I have had this grill for about 8 months now. I have owned a wide variety in pellet grills. I have two Scouts, which I struggled to maintain a temp with. If I just went to use those for grilling and baking, it would be fine but smoking I couldn't keep a good temp in colder outdoor temps However, this is a review on the tailgater, and for the price and portability there IS NOT a better grill than this one. I can set this on smoke while I am out hunting, or just simply away from the grill for 6 plus hours. You dont EVER have to worry about temperature fluctuations with this grill. Just set the temp, walk away and come home to 5 star food. I have BAKED anything from cinnamon rolls, corn bread, cakes, to smoking anything from fish, to wild wild game, beef, bison ect.. If you are going to read any reviews, dont let ANY negative reviews push you away.
Like i said, this is the 5th pellet grill that I have added to my collection. I have a pit boss, 2 scouts, Pro Series 34, Pro Series 22.
My father is a huge Bradley vertical smoker fan, I let him barrow this grill for the day to do a brisket. He had nothing but POSITIVE things to say about this.
If I could change anything on this grill, my only improvement would be to make the hopper a little steeper to help with the occasional bridging in pellets, and adding a pellet drop out door for ease of changing pellets. I will say, I have NEVER in four years needed to order a single part of my Traegers. After cooking with mine, three of my family members went out and purchased them as well.
BUT, for the price point this grill is, you cannot expect everything to be the way you want it!
DO NOT HESITATE IN GETTING THIS GRILL.

I love my Tailgater. I have cooked many of items on it since purchasing about 4 years ago. The only thing I would change is I wish Traeger would create an owners manual specifically for the Tailgater with the digital control, as I get pretty tired of needing to Google how to use the controller to check the probe temp. I guess I don't have a great memory because I keep forgetting how to check it. Anyway, this thing is a game changer for smoking and grilling. I also wish it had a door to dump the hopper so it would be easier to change pellets.
Lastly I would like to add; I never have issues with temperature fluctuation, shut off, or error codes. I also clean out the pellet stove with a shop vac before every smoke.

Killer Little Grill!

Killer grill. I use it for full-time home use and I almost never fire up my propane grill now. Been going strong for 2 years. Lives outside full-time in the weather, and still looks great. No issues. It doesn't get hot enough to quick sear, but something about how it heats it still doesn't "bake" burgers or steaks. They always come out perfect, even when I get distracted. Grill surface doesn't heat even, but I like having different zones for different things, just like on a gas grill. Perfect for me. Going to take this to my summer house and upgrade to an Ironwood for my winter place. Full convert.

I've had my Tailgater since 2014, I use it every weekend! Works today like it did 10 years ago .....Replaced the drip pan a couple of times......Love my Tailgater!

I love my tailgater size grilled. I use it every weekend for meal prepping. Also smoked a pork butt for 10 hours on it and it was amazing! With the smaller sized hopper you do have to watch how many pellets you are using. It works perfect for my small apartment balcony. It easily feeds four. It’s lightweight and portable, but still feels very durable. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small grill.

One of the best Traeger I have owned. The only thing needs improving is the dolts on the legs when you collapse them and if it closes down on them to fast it will break the plastic on the bolts. I did that, but other than that it is fantastic.
