Great job cooking but quality control concerns

We have smoked and cooked a few different cuts on here so far and have been very please with it. The machine and workings are as expected.
I’m giving this 3-stars due to the following cosmetic reasons:
1. Traeger logo on lid is cockeyed pretty severely. Looks like Quality Control screwed up. Makes the grill look like a 2nd run or knockoff.
2. When assembling the legs and following the instructions, a screw came from the fire box area and was rolling around the lid. For the life of me I have no idea where the screw came from. Another Quality Control issue.
I’m hoping that these two issues do not mean bad things to come as far as the quality of the grill goes.

New Timberline 850 Review

Cooks everything very evenly, with plenty of room to make whatever you want. The quality of the materials used is far superior to other grills. The app definitely needs some work, but once that's done it'll be the grill to beat all grills!

WiFi problems
on June 8, 2021
Posted by: Ross Pape
I spent hours on the online tech support chat three separate times trying to get wifi to work. Never did get it figured out. The best guess was to have my internet provider reconfigure our network. We have friends that are on the same internet setup with competitors grills and have no issues.
Another big complaint is the pellet level alarm goes off at about 3/4 full. So either you constantly fill the hopper or listen to the alarm.
As far as grilling itself goes its pretty good. Holds temp in colder weather. Seems to be good that way.
Overall I am not satisfied with it. I would not recommend spending the money on this grill. I have owned Traeger grills since the beginning, I am truly considering selling it for something different.

Hey Ross, thanks for taking the time to review your Timberline 850.

Your pellet sensor can be calibrated to resolve the problem you're having with the alarm. To calibrate your sensor, empty your hopper then go to Menu > Settings > Pellet Sensor. Select "Calibrate now" and follow the instructions on the screen.

The only typical requirement to get your grill connected to wifi is a strong 2.4 GHz connection and the latest version of the Traeger app. If you are unable to connect, please don't hesitate to give our support team a call at 1-800-TRAEGER so we can help get your grill up and running.

This is my 3rd Traeger. Texas, Pro 34 and now the Timberline 885. Love the pull out racks. Makes loading much easier.
The quick reheat is 2nd to none.

Buying this grill may result in a loss of privacy

Ever since I got this grill I haven’t had a peaceful night alone. Now friends are always bringing meat over wanting me to have cookouts. It’s been about a month now, a few days after getting this beast delivered (timberline 1300) my girlfriend found out how much I spent on it. We came to the conclusion that I may have a problem, she diagnosed me as a grilling addict and I’m okay with that. She also said that now I have to cook on it everyday to justify the price, jokes on her because I’m okay with that too. But now I have guests over every night wanting me to throw their food on the grill too and although I enjoy it I haven’t had a date night since. While I am very pleased with the product its important to understand the side effects that may come with it

So glad we made the change to Traeger!

Grill was easy to put together. Loved that the boxed it shipped in could be made in to a playhouse for the kiddos. Burn off was a breeze with the instructions. We have used the grill 3 times (ribs, tri tip and fillets) and each time has turned out perfect. So happy we made the change to Traeger!

not happy

I purchased a new Pro 575 last July 2019. Bought the cover & shelf etc. Read the manual and attempted to use. Out of the first half dozen times I attempted to use it, I was successful maybe once. I would set the temperature and ignite. Next thing I know, I come back and it has overheated and is shutting down. If it did pre-heat properly, any adjusting of the temperature during cooking causes another overheat and shutdown. I even a had a fire in the hopper. Eventually I was sent a new control panel which I installed. It seemed to work the first few times but I continue to have problems. Last weekend I decided to try a beef roast. Got the recipe from Traeger and set the temp at 200. Put my roast in and come back to check on it a short time later. Temp is 300. I open the lid to cool it down, give it 15-20 minutes and come back. Now the temp is 150 and going down. It is still set at 200. How in heck do you cook with that. The new control high temp limit is only 450 degrees. In my opinion that does not sear a steak. The first panel had a high limit of 550 degrees. I am very disappointed and beyond mad!
