Favorite Grill Ever - Feature Request for V2

I've had my Ranger Grill for a year now. I can't say enough good things about this. Wife and I just became empty nesters so it is the perfect size. Keeps heat just fine from my experience. Easy to clean. For transportation it is on the heavy size. Right side latch gets SUPER hot but in talking with Traeger's awesome customer service, I learned that those latches are just to transport. Not during cooking. Didn't appear to make a difference unlatched version latched when cooking. My old Akorn I kept latched during cooking to keep the smoke in so I just can't break that habit, so I use gloves and am careful. I wish wish wish they had built sturdy handles on the sides of the grill to make moving it easier. I have cooked pork, salmon, beef and all have been super easy. Definitely don't just unplug the grill when done. Follow the instructions. There is a 5 min cycle down that keeps the fill tube primed. I use a cover made for the grill and also another larger grill cover that covers the Ranger and the small table I got from Amazon. Keep Hickory pellets in hopper and they stayed dry through (now two) Tennessee winters which are notoriously wet. Can't say enough good things about it. Add some handles and blue tooth on Ranger v2.

I would like to start off and say this is a great grill for camping or small events. we like it so much I bought a friend one for his birthday. he called me to ask how it worked after many discussions. Come to find out he was missing the grill. kind of embarrassing on my end, but I had him contact triggered direct as I was on vacation at the time. he ported back to me and said Traeger was a great company and they were sent it right out to him.

Made temperature

It will not keep the temperature and we took it for service was told that this model is for quick cook items such as hot dogs or hamburgers

Hi, and thank you for reviewing the Traeger Ranger. Despite what you may have been told, portable tabletop Traegers aren't limited to quick cooks of hot dogs and hamburgers. While you may not be able to make your Thanksgiving turkey on the Ranger, you should be able to slow smoke other, smaller items, like steaks, chicken cuts, and even ribs, assuming that the rack is not longer than the grate. In fact, there is even a Keep Warm function that will drop the heat down to the grill’s minimum with just a touch of a button. However, if the temperature isn’t staying with 25 degrees of what you have it set to, please reach out to Traeger Customer Service. One of our agents will be happy to go over your grill to determine what is needed to have your Ranger working properly.

Temp control is non-existent. Stay away!

This giant can won't hold any temperature. The temp control knob is absolutely useless. Have come close to starting a fire twice now. Time to stop selling or re-design before someone gets burned... literally.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a Little Beauty of a Grill

Just bought this today, seasoned it and cooked a couple great steaks. Still need to figure out the probe, didn't seem to be working. Regardless, steaks came out great! Only thing that could have made it better was an even better steak cut. Great sear on the porcelain grate, I might look at an iron one if there is one but honestly it works just fine as is. I've seen some of the other reviews, you have to remember this is a GRILL, not a smoker. Still imparts a great flavor. Can't wait to try the griddle!!
