I have been through many electric grills (gas or open flame grills are not permitted in out townhouse community). This was my last hope. Our neighbor had a larger stand alone model. Im assuming its the flavored wood pellets, but I would say its as close to gas as possible. Excellent flavor, good coloring. Very sturdy construction, I have so far made burgers and chicken. Beef and smoking are next. I would highly recommend this grill to friends.

My First Traeger - Small and Mighty

Was a gift and out of the gate, I have learned to love this grill. Portable, small in stature but large in capability. For a family of four, there hasn't been really anything that we've not been able to cook. But with all things there could be some improvements. First, for the love of the BBQ gods can we put handles on this thing. It is a heavy grill to be considered portable and handles, while increasing the footprint, would be a nice addition. This was an obvious one that the designers left off. Second, the latches. The latch opposite the pellet box/fire box gets extremely hot and I have taken skin off inadvertently touch that thing. You will need gloves if you cook steak or burgers or something that preheats to 450. So far those are the only two flaws I've found with this grill. It cleans easily especially if you get the foil liners specifically made for the grease bucket and pan. Probably will graduate to a larger grill at some point but sitting this on a heavy duty cart so far has been all I've needed. Great job Traeger. Can't wait to see if you take some design cues and come out with the Ranger 2.0.

The latches on our ranger grills should stay cool to the touch. I would look out for any smoke leaking out of the gasket causing it to heat up. If there is I'd recommend reaching out to us at 1-800-TRAEGER so that we can take a look at it with you and see what may be going on

GREAT Grill

We have a PB 150 table top pellets smokers, really enjoyed it. BUT now we have a Traeger Ranger it is a real game changer for us. The Ranger is a super grill. We can cook breakfast on the griddle then smoke pork butt for dinner. The Ranger is so versatile it gives lots of opportunity for different kinds of food. The Ranger has drip tray liners that are a life saver at clean up time. We truly appreciate our Traeger Ranger.

Broke the second use.

I bought this 2 weeks ago. Made a prime rib came out perfect. Next time I was going to make ribs. The auger broke and pellets were not ejected into the burner. Bought tri tips, ribs, chickens to cook for a football party.. Now I wasted all this money for a unit that broke right away.

Hi, and thank you for your review of the Traeger Ranger. There are a few different possibilities when it comes to an auger not feeding pellets, but it is typically very easy to figure out. The most common is that the auger is simply jammed, with something physically preventing it from turning. While not quite as frequent, it could also be a broken auger pin or even an issue with the motor itself. But regardless of the cause, we’ve got you covered. As soon as you have a little time, please call us at 1-800-TRAEGER and an agent will be happy to diagnose the problem with you, and even send out a replacement part if needed.

Portability, and how quickly it cools down.

I have been using my Ranger for a couple years now. My favorite meal cooked on this grill is Spatchcocked Chicken. The small cooking chamber really works well for this meal.
