Good device with some usability frictions

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are pleased with our Frigidaire Gallery 13,000 BTU (model GHPC132AB1).
After spending quite some time researching online and comparing different options, we bought the Frigidaire AC. The unit works well, efficiently and makes reasonable noises. It was easy to install and start using. The remote control works well and is easy to use. We especially like the slick design of the AC; it is a big thing sitting in the room, and it was important for us to have something nice looking.
There are some usability frictions, thought. First of all, Wi-Fi Connectivity is not as easy as on our devices we use in our house. For some reason, the iOS application required registering the appliance again, and the app also refused to connect with VPN active (all other appliances work just fine). So to be able to use the app, we have to turn off VPN and exposure our network to cyber risks. Very unsafe.
The Login process is super annoying as you need to enter your login and password each time you start the app. There is no quick PIN-code or fingerprint authentication. These are software issues that can be fixed quickly, and we hope the company will improve the user experience soon. We bought this device and paid a premium for the Wi-Fi feature but can’t easily use it now.
The second issue is the hardware one. This is something that is not articulated well in the specification and user manual, but you still have to drain water from the device now and then, even if you don’t use it as a dehumidifier. The internal storage tank is small, and it takes a day or two to fill it in. Water collection is not the easiest as the drain is located at the bottom of the device. You need to use a small tray with walls no higher than an inch and a half so you can fit it under the device to collect liquid. It helps to lean the unit to get all the liquid out, and since the unit is heavy and on wheels, this is not easy to do.
In sum, this is a good device. The software issues can be and should be fixed quickly and easily. The hardware limitation of water accumulation and collection is something you need to accept and live with.

Subpar air conditioner

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fact the the window kit has to be screwed into the window frame makes it so that the air conditioner is not portable. Once installed, the air conditioner has to stay where it is which means it's not portable. If this is what they consider portable, they might as well call the window units portable as well. Once it gets cold outside again and I have to unscrew everything for this unit, I wonder if I will even be able to reuse the window kit portion of this unit when it gets hot outside again. Considering the cost of this unit, I should be able to reuse all the the pieces when I need them. Also, since the window kit is screwed into the window frame, I can't ever close my window while it is installed - If I leave my apartment for the weekend, I have to trust that the hose piece (that goes from the unit to the window kit), stays in place. I don't trust that piece at all and I currently have the hose piece held in place with duct tape so it doesn't fall out. This air conditioner was not at all what I was expecting. In addition, when I set the unit to 72 degrees, the app for this unit usually says my room is anywhere from 75 to 79 degrees and it rarely is at the desired temperature. My room is cooler than before I had the unit but I definitely would not recommend this to anyone.

It was delivered more than a month late, therefore, unable to try it other than setting up the Wi-Fi and turned ON / OFF from my cell. Unit looks futuristic. Setting it up was very easy. Promise to report in the upcoming summer. The 3-stars for not able to use it but will upgrade as I get the experience using it.
