thry wers servicing the water line nesr our house and all our faucets were flowing brown, even after 10 minutes of flushing them out. while this filter definitely definitely saw a reduction in flow rate, the quality of the water was excellent as always.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I always buy Samsung genuine filters. I know you are fighting thefts but at what expense. Honestly I have to work hard to get the filter out of the packaging. The plastic is so hard and no way to open it so I have to cut open the packaging which creates sharp edges and points. Honestly, this is at best dangerous. I really would not want to injure myself just to get the product. Can you please do something to make this better?

I have a reverse osmosis water system attached to my sink. This filter had to be removed in order for my water and ice to work in the fridge. Not enough pressure.

Water filter doesn't fit 100%
on June 7, 2020
Posted by: oldk94
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we bought this filter from samsung after doing some research. there are a lot of 3rd parties provide same model filter, but some of them has fitting and leaking issue, so we decide to buy the original samsung one to avoid problem. but we are wrong!!! this water filer doesn't fit our samsung fridge perfectly even it's same mode.it won't go all the way in after install the new filter. we don't have the leak problem so far, but it just does't give us the original feel. it's a bit disappointment.

Filter works well

i seem to disagree with the other reviewers. i followed the instructions, but the filer was very difficult to remove, so the first time i called samsung's help line to see if it was ok to remove with a pliers. they said "yes". i removed and reinstalled with no problem. we drink a lot of water, so i knew the filer wasn't going to last 6 months; it lasted about 3-3 1/2. our house has a whole house filter on it anyway, but this filter seems to make the water taste cleaner. even the cats prefer water from the refrigerator than the tap! i usually order two filters at a time, in case they are on back order. this will be my third filter. i have no complaints!

Less than 2 months out of a 30+ dollar filter is unacceptable. The filter that came with the fridge lasted 6 months, almost exactly. Samsung is fully aware of this. I'd imagine it's intentionally done. Won't be purchasing another Samsung appliance.

Hi Jake W,
It’s completely understandable to feel frustrated when a product doesn’t perform as expected—especially after having a better initial experience. Let us help by providing some additional information about your Samsung water filter.
We understand it can be confusing when a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) or EC (Electrical Conductivity) meter shows little to no change in readings after installing a new Samsung water filter. It's important to note that these meters only measure dissolved minerals—such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium—which are naturally present in water and not harmful. Samsung refrigerator filters, such as the HAF-QIN, are not designed to remove these minerals. Instead, they are engineered to reduce contaminants that affect taste, odor, and health—such as chlorine, lead, mercury, and certain pharmaceuticals. These improvements are not reflected in TDS or EC readings, which is why those tools are not reliable indicators of filter performance.
Samsung filters are tested and certified to meet NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and 401, ensuring they effectively reduce specific harmful substances. If your primary goal is to reduce TDS levels or remove dissolved solids, a reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system would be a more suitable solution, as RO systems are specifically designed for that purpose. For refrigerator filters like the HAF-QIN, the most effective way to evaluate performance is by noticing improvements in taste and odor, maintaining steady water flow, and following the recommended six-month replacement schedule.
Since your previous filter showed lower TDS readings under similar conditions, it's also worth considering that your home's incoming water supply may have changed. Municipal water sources can vary over time due to seasonal changes, infrastructure updates, or adjustments in treatment processes—all of which can affect mineral content and, in turn, your TDS results. If you're using the same filter model but seeing different readings, it may be a result of shifts in the water composition rather than a concern with the filter itself.
