Weird interior arrangement
on April 6, 2022
Posted by: Honest words
from Portland OR
The silverware basket is in front and not stable. The dish dividers are odd and make it hard to place large pieces. The upper rack has only one side with the fold down rack for large utensils. It cleans dishes fairly well but does not remove all food in spite of pre -rinsing.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to us about this dishwasher. We're sorry to hear that it's not been living up to your expectations, though. If you haven't done so already, we recommend checking out page 8 of your owner's manual for our loading suggestions, linked here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55124-5.pdf For the best wash performance, we recommend making sure the water is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit when it enters the tub. Also, check that the filters are not clogged and the dishes are loaded properly. Selecting any additional heat settings will help both the wash and dry cycles as well as high quality detergent and rinse aid. Please let us know if you have any more questions or concerns. -Chris@GEA

Small, poorly designed

It washes ok, but the racks are very poorly designed and nothing fits well to be washed. Silverware basket is small and awkwardly located.

BE AWARE: This dishwasher has a smaller interior
on April 8, 2022

This dishwasher interior is NOT standard height. Installation instructions say: "This dishwasher MAY ALSO be installed into a STANDARD opening ..... by installing the infill bracket or extending the legs". Infill bracket = 2" at top; compartment is 6" off floor instead of standard 3 1/2" = difference of 2 1/2" at bottom (- 4 1/2" total) =15% less interior height

Hello- Thanks for your feedback. We will be sure to share this with our engineering and design teams. This is an ADA Compliant with Low-Profile Installation. It is great for 34” counter top heights and raised subfloors. The frame is the full width of the dishwasher. There is about 3.5” of clearance behind the dishwasher if the front of the door is flush with the cabinet face and more than 5” of clearance behind the dishwasher if you mount the back of the dishwasher door flush with the face of the cabinet.
The width of the unit in the rear is approximately 23.5”. The side rails (metal frame/legs running from front to back) are approximately 1” wide. There is a rear brace that extends across the entire width of the lower portion of the rear of the unit. The exact dishwasher door dimensions for the model GDT226SILII are: 23 5/8” wide and 25 3/8” tall. If you have any questions in the future, please let us know. We are happy to help! Joyce@GEA

Serviceable but disappointing

Our dishes are coming out clean (yay) but often the soap packets are not dissolved in the shortest wash cycle, just sitting in the base of the machine. I also find it hard to push the buttons on top because of the way my counter is which is something we didn’t realize about the design until it was installed

Hi there - Thanks for the review. It's nice to hear that your dishes are getting clean, but we do apologize that the detergent isn't dissolving completely. When placing the detergent packet in the dispenser cup, make sure the thin side is facing up. This thin coating side becomes very sticky when it gets wet and can stick to the cup. Also make sure that the incoming water temperature is at least 120 degrees F. We suggest running the hot water at the kitchen sink before starting a cycle.
Your comments on the design of the control panel are greatly appreciated and will be taken into consideration for improvement. Please know that we're always here to help if any questions come up. Thanks again! -Mikayla@GEA

The best thing is that we can lean on the dishwasher w/o disturbing the cycle. Used in a public school student kitchen.

I despise this model.

This dishwasher has the absolute worst organizers on the inside. It’s dimensions are standard, but everything on the inside is tiny. I hate this dishwasher. My wife is happy to have any dishwasher, so I guess “happy wife, happy life”. We love our GE products in general. I am not hating on the quality of the machine, but this model is a joke, especially for the price.

I bought this dishwasher because it met the height requirement to install under my old kitchen cabinets. So far I love the dishwasher. I just wish it had an automatic drying feature.
