Some of the weld points were sloppy, and the inside paint was unevenly applied. I’m happy with the product, but QC in the manufacturing needs to be checked.

I was impressed with the idea but hesitant until an evening with my neighbor's BioLite Firepit. The ability to easily start and control the fire is great and should not be understated. However, having the fire raised off the ground (enough to tuck my toes under on a cold night) dramatically increase our enjoyment. Seeing it all--from the coals to logs to the tips of the flames without battling smoke just makes more sense. I've had several chimney-type devices, hoping the chimney would help draw smoke straight up (and our of our faces) but was always disappointed. The BioLite FirePit+ touches all the bases. While my camping days are mostly behind me, the FirePit+ moves easily from patio to porch to driveway easily. It burns so cleanly that only ash remains, which I simply blow into the lawn. And while I'm sure it's not recommended, with the help of a buddy, we were able to each grab handle and move the firepit while the fire still burned. I love that flexibility. Best purchase I've made in years.

I bought this a few months ago and have been using it out on our patio a lot. I cannot say enough good things about it. The fan feature is way cool... I generally start off at high and end up down to the low. If the fire starts dying, back up. The same goes with the heat. If I feel it's not hot enough I just turn up the fan. I've read the comments about the rust problem so I make a point of not leaving it outside if it is going to rain. But, it is a grill so I totally expect some rust. I have taken it on trips a few times, once skiing and I set it up in the parking lot (social distancing). The foldup legs are nice for bagging it and carrying it.

Poor workmanship

Item arrived today. The cat iron skillet seemed solid, though needs seasoning. The cover fit well but judging by the thin metal and poor welding I'm suspicious as to its longevity. The main item, however, has several defects without any damages to the packaging - which was most excellent btw. The enamel, clearly not applied evenly, is actually explained away in an insert stating that this is to be expected "if found". I think I would have accepted this even but the dents simply communicate that this item was sent despite being of poor quality.

Nice looking little fire pit. You can fit 3 or 4 small pieces of firewood. The fan definitely help to get the fire going and burning - but we haven't noticed any real reduction in smoke (the reason we bought it). To be fair - we've had a bit of wind when using it - which may be part of the issue - given the wind blows through the openings on the sides - blowing smoke where ever the wind blows. So maybe this would work better in the middle of the woods on a flat calm day. But in Alberta - where we typically have a decent breeze - it hasn't been all that effective. If I had a time machine - I probably wouldn't make this purchase again.
