It’s okay. It’s been used three times and is beginning to develop rust spots on the lower fuel rack. The black finish seems to be holding up. I don’t notice a major difference in smoke from a bonfire. Certainly not as efficient of a burn as the Basecamp. I don’t have any major complaints, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Firepit for the deck

Great firepit. This is my second purchase, the first one the motor still works, but the x-ray metal sadly corroded. But we got probably eight years out of it. One of the first purchases of generation 1. Can’t wait to try out the new one.

I have been looking at getting one of these for a while now but have been on the fence. But after looking at a new campground that said you must bring your own firepit. I decided to get one and I am glad we did. I tested this out with wet wood and tumbleweed, and it lit with no problem with the fan running. Looking forward to taking this out on our next camping trip.

Used my BioLite 5x now, it’s a cool, fun little toy but not magical. It is light and easily portable, so if you are looking for a camping/picnic fire, or move around the house to different spots, it’s great. I like the sliding grill grate, easy to remove and easy to remove ashes. But it’s not magical. It will still smoke at first, it works better as you get a bigger, deeper fire. It will not turn wet wood into clean fire. And in my experience, windy conditions seem to negate its “smokeless” effectiveness, if the wind is stronger than the fan. But with good wood, calm conditions and deep coals, it can put off a great clean heat in a small space. Seems pretty safe and contained too. Battery does seem to last as long as advertised.
