Very versatile, but not great at all functions

The firepit is compact, well built and can be used to both cook and provide heat. However, I found that it let off a lot more smoke than I expected and the grate does not help prevent hot embers from escaping if any are produced in the fire. If you are in the market for a smokeless firepit or a grill, I would check out other options. However, if you want something that is small, packable and can do both, this is pretty good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far, I’ve only used this to grill up some kabobs and chicken. It turned out great. Clean up was pretty easy (I suggest getting the poker), and I like the size; easy for car camping! Can’t wait to use it again!
