I bought a small one for a 6 day hiking trip in the Wind River Range. For longer hours in the tent, the lighting is both functional and relaxing. Now, I wouldn't camp without one. I liked it so much I bought a larger one for my 11 year old son. He loves it.

We have an older BioLite lamp in the bedroom of our off-grid cabin and needed something for the living area to eliminate the need to constantly move the lighting. This is an awesome light. After sunset, we can light it up and it gives plenty of light to sit by to read or just have on during conversation. We haven't had the need to use the multi-color function, basically use the white lights and red (good for late night when we wake up to take our dog out and not want to have a bright light get you fully awake). We have no complaints, it's perfect for cabin life. Next test will be to see how long the BaseCharge takes to bring the AlpenGlow to a full charge.

I did think it would be bigger, I l it looked bigger on the website compared to the other models. But it was bright and had fun colors and modes. Stayed charged for a full 2 night of camping.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my Biolite lantern. It’s bright enough to help setup camp in the dark, lights up an entire tent, and is even nice to use indoors (like if your power goes out). The hook at the base allows you to hang the lantern from basically anywhere. Perfect for your ridge line hammock camping. The color-changing setting is very stimulating and an added luxury. My mates and I have even used it as a beacon for our camp site. I’m not sure what happened to my lantern but the lights on one side just stopped working one day. I will say, this has been after countless hours of use that I wouldn’t imagine putting other lanterns through. Wish I could just pop new bulbs in or something. I’ll likely buy another sometime down the road.

One of the best lanterns

I got this lantern a year ago. It has been absolutely perfect. Puts out the right amount of light wherever you need. It holds battery charge for a long time. I also have accessory lights. I can hook up to it and they all work great. It is my go to lantern when I need one. You will not regret owning this land. You will love it.
