Powerful speaker, weak battery life.

The sound quality is what you would expect out of Sonos. It's on par with the sound of a Sonos One, without the deep bass. At times it can hit the punchier lows, but now the robust thumping of a normal subwoofer (which is to be expected in a tiny speaker). Portability is great and setup was quick and seamless. Now the worst part: battery life. Heaven forbid you forget to turn the speaker off after use, because the next time you go to use it, it'll likely be dead. Also not a fan of the power button and how long it takes to turn the device off. It's also not very haptic feedback friendly. Overall nice speaker, but really expected the battery life to be much better than it is.
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Free Control Options, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Poor Battery Life, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have both Move and Roam speakers. I purchased the Roam after I got the Move. I was using my Move for a pool exercise class. I switched to the Roam even though it's not as powerful as the Move. It is very light and portable.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound, Wireless

Hook it up to my Sonos beam , SL speakers , and move . We use the roam to take on deck or out to the pool. Love that you don't need a button to switch from wireless to Bluetooth like you do on the Move . Great sound in a little portable speaker !

First off, the product sounds really nice for its size. I replaced a UE Boom with this and the sound is definitely better. The second plus is the airplay integration so I can put them on my patio and or in rooms I don't have homepods/large speaker systems and play the same music everywhere. However, the system itself leaves a lot to be desired. First whenever they turn off they unpair from each other in stereo pair, simply turning them back on doesn't re-pair the stereo. Stereo pairing them also RESETS the equalizer to 0, removing the pair doesn't go back to the initial EQ settings those are reset too! I could get having a different EQ setting for a stereo pair and individual maybe, but at least remember this kind of stuff if you're going to constantly forget my stereo pair in the first place which is also super annoying. Basically, the only way to keep a stereo pair and EQ settings is to keep them on all the time, which is fine, but it brings me to the next problem. A few charging pads I have would only charge these for a few hours and then stopped charging them, others worked to keep them constantly charged on the pads. Yes I could plug them in or buy the Sonos magnetic charger, but then I can't just grab them off the charging pads and take them outside as easily. I was really excited about the Sonos one til I found that out, fundamentally it sounds like disconnecting it would basically be the same work as disconnecting the USBc so I didn't buy them. Finally, unlike the UE Boom setup that lets me pair multiples together and connect them via bluetooth (for situations where I'm away from airplay) there is no such capability here. I can only connect to one Roam via bluetooth at a time. Ultimately my hope is that the hardware itself is solid (it seems to be) and that Sonos will fix the poor user experience in the software. This is my first experience with a Sonos product and for a "premium" product the user experience isn't really what I was expecting.
Pros: Expandable, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unfortunately the Roam does not live up to the Sonos quality label. The power button/bluetooth control is very awkward to use and takes some time to figure it out. The major issue is charging/keeping it charged. The unit for some reason drains the battery even if it is off. There are many blogs/comments from people who have bought the Roam. I have to charge it every day just to use it and so I'll be contacting Sonos to return it until they can come up with a better product.
Pros: Expandable, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use, Unreliable

Second Time is the charm

The first Roam I purchased would not work with my complicated set up of Sonos and Vintage Speakers. I could either use the Roam or the rest of my configuration but not together. I purchase a second unit after the first hoping to have two. The first did not work but the second works fine. It works like all my other Sonos speakers. Most of the time when I move and unplug one of my units I have to get it all reset again. I don't mind as long as it all works which now it does.
Pros: Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
I would recommend this to a friend!
