Cumbersome Set-up

Roam is a nice portable speaker I can take a around the house to either supplement the speakers I have set-up or to rooms where I do not have a sonos speakers. Due to its smaller size I sometimes have to turn the volume a little higher than the larger speakers. The set-up was cumbersome and the directions that come with the speak were not very helpful. Also, the buttons are not easy to see because they are the same color of the speaker. Perhaps making them white in contrast to the color of the black speaker is something Sonos might consider.
Pros: Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
Cons: Difficult Setup

Among the playlists on my iPhone is one I call "Sleep". It is all instrumental piano and symphony performances of semi-classics, broadway classics and easy listening pieces, no vocal and no upbeats. I play it at night at low volume while the iPhone in on charger. By concentrating on the music, I am able to get to sleep quickly and get back to sleep if I wake up. Volume is low enough that it would not wake me up by itself. The quality of this sound is so much better than the iPhone speakers. I love it.

Great portability coming with abysmal performance

I have a Sonos Five that i'm really happy with. I wanted to replace my Bose Soundlink 2 as the battery is on it's last leg. Being in the Sonos system, thought to give Roam a try due to it's portability. The set up outside of your primary wifi network is a HUGE con. I opened this first on my vacation and couldn't set up under public wifi. It's a bluetooth speaker and Sonos should have thought of it better with a simple bluetooth option, the support system is a no good as they mentioned on an email that I 'had' to set up over home wifi first before using. Sonos tech is awful. Now the sound, it felt really short of Bose and sounded like Beats pill that I once owned. The vocals do better than mids, low and bass. I'll be returning mine and sticking to Bose for portability and sound quality.

Unable Roam while traveling

I was unable to use the Roam speaker at my hotel because Roam requires a network connection and the prompts for the hotel wi-fi were different than the Sonos app wi-fi network prompts. Making Roam useless without a wi-fi connection. The Hotel wi-fi sign on was customer name and room number, no password/pass code. The Sonos app setup finds the wifi network and requires a password input. Since the speaker does not have any other way to connect vis-a-vis wired connection, it was useless. I spend about 45 minutes trying to connect the speaker to my phone without luck.
Cons: Difficult to Use
