You are looking at other water resistant/proof mobile speakers but thought you'd check out Sonos. You see the price and balk. I get it. I did. Then you read reviews, as I did, and convince yourself to try [there's a refund policy where you bought it, etc.]. You get it home, notice the care taken in packaging and hence the unboxing experience, you set it up [which wasn't as fluid for me as I would have hoped and was glitchy at points], you power it up and think: Wow, this does sound remarkably good. In the coming days, as good as that sound from that little Roam is what you really begin to appreciate is the bizarre ease of sending your music/podcast/stream to the speak using AirPlay2, bluetooth, or using the Sonos player app. That is where, for me, the magic happened. I find most mobile speakers far too often a PITA to get fired up. The Roam, at least for me who is in the Apple ecosystem, is a breeze. The range is outstanding, the WiFi stability is so-far flawless, the sound surprisingly bright and reasonably full for a tiny handheld speaker [and that is me using it in the bathroom which is acoustically punishing] and you realise "Ahhh, so this is why once Sonos gets you in one of their products you are eager to add more."
Pros: Free Control Options, Superior Sound, Wireless

Sonos Roam- my first experience

Setup was difficult. Roam picked the wrong WiFi signal and was difficult to change. Sync with the phone per instructions - 'rubbing the back of Roam' with the phone never worked. Glad Sonos included the tone alternative - otherwise this thing would have been returned to the store. Sound is OK, microphone to Alexa is nice feature. Would have been nice to include a padded pouch for this on the go. Charge pad should have a colored logo on the Roam side. Lots of poorly thought out features with this device.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My kingdom for a charger

The set up was easy, and the sound is pretty good. I like the controls up top so I can pause and forward through music without using the app. At this price point, I didn't expect to need a specific minimum charger. It needs a +5v +2.1A 12w or better charger block. I used a lower block, and it took days for the charge to degrade. Then it took about 30 minutes in a chat with Sonos tech support to troubleshoot the issue, and fix it. It seems like a simple add in the box at this price point. Either provide the charger, or a simple card with big bold letters that state you need a specific charger.

Can only use one on Bluetooth

I would love to link two roams together via Bluetooth, even if not in stereo as I use mine outside. And maybe one day use them as surround speakers to a Beam G2.
