I have several Sonos speakers and have enjoyed the sound quality and the relative ease of use. I especially like that you can play different music in different rooms or combine them as needed. However, over the years I've witnessed a deterioration in the quality of the Sonos software. Frankly, it used to be simple and reliable. Now it's less-than-simple in some cases, extremely slow at times, and very unreliable. Sometimes I feel like I'm booting up an old Intel 386 processor and waiting for AOL to download. And, of course, more often than not I receive a message telling me to update the software. There's nothing like coming home, expecting to turn on some relaxing music and then spending that time loading software updates and reconfiguring something. It makes me long for the days of cassette tapes! I recently bought the Sonos Roam, thinking I could use a bluetooth speaker. I also thought perhaps I could use its voice recognition system, which I don't have with any of my other Sonos speakers. The speaker itself works fine, the sound quality is good for its size but there's nothing exceptional about it. It is very pricey for what you get, and it's kind of insulting that it doesn't even come with the charging base. If you want that cool feature you have to pay extra for it. Regarding voice recognition - don't bother. I tried repeatedly to set up Amazon Alexa and was never able to do so. It's just not very user-friendly. This may be due to Amazon's software but regardless there was nothing simple and quick about it.

Just got my Roam and its separate charging base after placing a pre-order. It seemed like a better choice than the Move as I don't really want that as my portable speaker at the beach or on the balcony. I've found that the sound is decent but my experience with it hasn't been the same as with my other Sonos products (four second gen Ones and a Playbar) but perhaps it'd just teething issues. It's slow to show up in my Sonos app, and I find the charging slow using the base.

Unbelievable sound quality for such a small speaker. While it is a little more expensive than a number of other battery operated speakers, the sound quality and features are worth the extra cost. The only negative is that the battery needs to be recharged frequently even when it is placed in sleep mode or powered off when not in use.

I purchased this product as it stated water proof and my other sonos speakers have great sound. This issue is using it - the bluetooth is difficult to connect and the battery runs down faster than they stated

i have multiple sonos products but needed something small to carry around. i use this when in the shower or in the backyard with friends hanging out. easy to use once connected. hard to connect to your network at first.

Bricked due to manufacturers defect

The speaker worked great, until the warranty ran out and it bricked itself with the orange light of death. I'd you search this issue you will see that Sonos is not assisting or replacing these defective units. I would not recommend buying this speaker, because it has faulty manufacturing and would be a waste of money.

Adore the product. Incredible build. Incredible Sonos sound. Incredible size. GREAT battery. GREAT Alexa. Really amazing product, A job, Sonos!!! The only thing I wish it had: a bungee to carry it. Or a case with a bungee on it! It's so portable need to make it better to carry it around and hang it!
