Nice sounding speaker but battery life could be a lot better

Great sounding portable speaker. Perfect for deck/outdoor use. Versatile in that it can work with Sonus system or just blue tooth. Disappointed in the battery life. Should get more than 4 hours from a charge.

I use it with Bluetooth for streaming services, and to check my professional studio mixes while mixing a song. It's a bummer w/out an aux input (didn't think I'd miss it, but find that I definitely do) and that you have to login to a streaming service to access the unit's EQ and Auto Off settings (unless I'm missing something).
Cons: need to login to streaming service 4 eq/auto off, no aux input (a huge limitation!)

Ideal for personal listing. Or adding to whole home system. Voice recognition is spot on WiFi is great and Bluetooth range is also solid. It Can blast a medium room full of music. Can also handle a large room depending on acoustics. Outside is still shines but can be easily drown out when competing with other noises. Audio quality is impressive the frequency range is astonishing for its size. When volume is under 60% the bass has a really solid and true sound. Above 60 percent the DSP limits bass and pushes the higher end. Same exact thing all other portable speakers do. The mids are clear and present and the treble is right on key. Considering it's small ultra portable size the sound reproduction is impressive. A larger speaker would easily get louder and have a more present mid bass thump. But it would struggle to compete in the reproduction of correct sound and instrument separation. Now for the few cons I've had with the roam 1 I personally wish the power button was also on top. The button being on the back makes it so prone to accidental presses when carrying. It's also more difficult to reach when it's home and plugged in charging opposed to if it was on top. 2. battery life on its own could be bigger. Really wish it had a slightly larger battery inside. But I personally own several portable charging blocks. If I need this to play for more than 8-10 hours I can always play it running on a charging block and double or triple it's run time. None of my cons found are deal breakers. This is the best portable speaker on the market for its size, sound quality,& feature set.

Amazing speaker that's maybe a bit too simple

This is a great speaker, but I wish they made the controls for the power button a bit more intuitive. I keep finding myself hitting the power button once to turn it off for the night and come back in the morning to a dead battery. Turns out the proper way to turn it off is by holding the button down for five seconds until your hear a chime. On top of that, the status indicator is just a multicolor dot of a light with no explanation of what each color means. And in both sleep and powered off there's no light shown, so no way of knowing the difference until you learn the speaker better. I don't see the point of a sleep function on a speaker, but this speaker sounds so good it's hard to dislike. On top of that, it is pretty water resistant, relatively durable, and looks good.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use

I love the roam and the wireless charger. The only issue I have is that the device won't turn on sometimes without doing a 15 second reset. I spoke with support and they are working on a software patch for this. Hoping to have that resolved soon and the 3 speakers we do have, Beam and 2 roams will be all we need until we set up a surround sound system for our tv. Thanks Sonos!

i didnt like it~ i travel quite alot and having to have wifi is a pain. I was super excited to listen to it, but i could not see the controls ( ff play rewind etc) then i had to mess with the wifi ( i was staying in a hotel) so that was a pain i dont want to buy something that is going to frustrate me and be a huge challenge when i want to use it

Was excited to add compact and superior Sonos Roam to my collection, however, I'll be returning it for these reasons: (1) it is not compatible with S1 Controller and I have a quite a few older speakers I have no desire to part with; and (2) the Bluetooth playback will not work independent of Sonos app (must install Sonos Controller in order for it to work).
Pros: Wireless
Cons: Incompatible with S1 Controller

I was disappointed to learn that your new speakers are not compatible with the old ones. Why would you do such a thing? I know why: so I have to buy new speakers. I'm sorry, what changed that I can't have all my speakers tied into one controller? I paid a lot of money for the 4 products that are currently in my house under the assumption they would pretty much last indefinitely. You done goofed
