Disappointing

I've been pleased with my Sonos equipment so when it was time to purchase a portable unit I was thrilled that the Roam was available. Major disappointment. The sound quality is poor and sounds tinny and hollow. Adjustments to bass and treble are minimal to the point that they should be removed as an option for the Roam. I returned the speaker and bought a Bose which sounds full with highs and lows.
Cons: Poor Sound Quality, Unreliable

Doesn't Include Special Charger or Even Mention You Need One

Nowhere in the set-up guide or on the box does it tell you that the charging brick is not included, nor does it tell you that the one you need is not the standard one that comes with most phones. I couldn't figure out why the battery on my new Roam was lower 16 hours after I plugged it in than when it arrived. It was only after searching the Internet and scrolling to the very bottom of an extremely long product listing on Sonos' website, that I discovered you have to pay extra for the correct voltage brick to attach to the cable that comes with the speaker. This is extremely customer-unfriendly and surely must result in many support calls from customers who think that their battery is defective.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Can't Use Standard Chargers, Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, No charger

I got the JBL flip 5 and traded it in for the roam and it was such a disappointment. I like the smart features but the sound quality is just not as good. It does not fill the room and bass is not good. I love Sonia but this made a big impact on the future purchases of sonis

Let me start by saying this Roam speaker sounds great, though not necessarily any better than its competitors. Outside of that, I was very unsatisfied with my experience. The audio was constantly skipping or stalling, sometimes it would show that the music was playing when it actually wasn't (I'd have to disconnect and restart the entire speaker to get it to work again). There was a delay of about 4 seconds from tapping play/pause on my phone to when the audio would actually react. If I paused the music, the speaker would disconnect from my device after only a few minutes. I ended up returning the speaker. Too much hassle and frustration with the most simple functionalities easily performed by any other wireless speaker, at a lower cost too nonetheless.
Cons: Slow to respond, Wireless/WiFi

Even resetting the Roam, resetting WiFi, etc etc Failed to stop cutting out. I have other Sonos speakers without this problem. Could immediately switch to Move and guess what no problems. Remove Move. Restart Roam same issues. Since I bought from the website difficult to return so far. NOT happy

The Roam drinks battery, even when it's not being used. It's a glorified BlueTooth speaker, except if you only plug it in to charge it you'll find it's fully drained its battery by two days later. I was losing about 5% battery per hour when it was OFF. I returned it, because this design is deliberate. Sonos has said the immediate wake-up is the priority here, so "standby" is going to use [lots of] battery. Sonos makes awesome speakers, but only if you keep them plugged in all the time. I can get the portability of the Roam from a simple BlueTooth speaker, for not even 25% the cost.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Wireless
Cons: Terrible battery life, Unreliable

So it worked for one day and then it was 'Offline'. I used their cable, used a 5v/2A plug and nothing worked. Took an hour and numerous pictures with support to allow them to send me a new unit. Not your typical Sonos experience and I have many Sonos products. At least include a plug!!!
