Bluetooth was a disappointment

I wanted to love this, the sound is great for a small speaker and the wifi connectivity is great. The Bluetooth which is the reason I was initially so excited was not good at all. Lots of dropping and couldn't be more that 7ft away from the speaker without it constantly chopping out. I wanted something I could use at home and out for the day and this didn't live up to the expectation.
Pros: Superior Sound
Cons: Unreliable

When it works it's great, but when it's not it is frustrating! But then it just decided to die. I tried a number of different chargers, but it just can't seem to charge at all. I can't even turn it on to do a factory reset. Maybe I got a lemon and everyone got working products, but it is certainly not a good build. I'm not the only one that has this problem, there are others in the forum that are experiencing the same problem

I was so excited about my purchase but planning on returning them after 2 weeks of aggravation. The charge does not last, the buttons are too small to see/feel. The set up is not user friendly - I have to pair them every time my wifi drops. Takes forever to charge and then the charge is lost so quickly. You would think for the price, they would throw a charging box and not just the cord?? I am also surprised about some of the negative comments on the SONOS website - no one from SONOS has responded or commented back on any of the other negative comments to help with struggles identified. Really poor customer service.
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Superior Sound

Standby mode is terrible

I have 9 other sonos speakers. They are all great. The roam is terrible for two reasons. It does not work with Apple and bluetooth half the time. The other reason is the terrible battery life in standby. I have no features turned on and it drains in two days. Sonos gives excuses for this but they should have made a better product that works within the ecosystem they have created.

This new Roam is nothing but buggy. Sound skips and drops out all the time. I have 2 Sonos Ones and they work fine on the same network. Moved from my principal residence home to the cottage and it won't allow me to add another wifi network. I go through all the steps and the Roam won't respond. So basically, it's the most expensive Bluetooth speaker you can buy with wifi only sometimes working. Additionally, the google voice assistant also wouldn't connect to it. Clearly this product needs A LOT of work. Too bad I pre-ordered without know about all these issues.

Sound is good, voice assistant okay

Use of the Roam is pretty straight forward as bluetooth, portable speakers go. Nothing better or worse than most others except that it is a compact unit that can stand on its base or side. The integrated Alexa functions are pretty messed up for someone using this for travel purposes. Changing the network, adjusting the time zone, and otherwise having it operate on its own vs as a bluetooth is painful. Some changes are in the Sonos app, some are in the Alexa app, and some changes then apply to other Sonos devices when you return home! I found that changing the time, for instance, changed my home system because there are not separate settings for Roam vs. other devices!!
Pros: Wireless
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Unreliable

I was so excited to get the Roam and I am very disappointed. The sound quality is fantastic but the volume limit is pretty weak so you have to be near by for outdoor use . Battery lie is probably less that half what Sonos claims and the "always connected" feature is garbage. This speaker turn itself on independent of anything to do with the Sonos App or trying to play music. for this reason , I always keep it on the charging pad because otherwise whenever i go to use it, it's dead because it keeps tuning itself on.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Unreliable, Poor Battery Life, serious connectivity issues

Difficult to set up. I was looking forward to quality sound, but once again Sonos has a great product that is difficult to set up. Even the easiest task such as connecting to bluetooth was difficult. I return this to the store and will look for non-Sonos products in the future.
