Impressive sound quality

I purchased Roam due to its waterproof design for my pool area and to take to the beach. I pair it with my SONOS One SL when used in the pool area for stereo sound and to be completely honest, if I close my eyes and turn, I can't tell the difference between Roam and the One SL. Sound quality is fantastic! The SONOS App is easy to use and I love having the ability to pair it with any of my other SONOS speakers or just by itself. Construction is very solid with rubber "feet" that keep it in place. I mention the feet because when I first unpacked it and set it on the pool cage, "SONOS" is spelled correctly upside down as well, and it almost vibrated off the cage support. LOL. I am very impressed with all the SONOS speakers!

Great portable product, needs some tweaks

Great for portability. Only complaint is that they need to tweak its behaviour when sleeping vs powered off. Perhaps changing the LED behaviour to make it apparently that it is sleeping, so one knows better if they want to do a full power off. Battery drain while in sleep mode is significant.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Superior Sound, Wireless

I have 5 Sonos Play:1 scattered about the house as well as a Move. I found the Roam to be very useful to carry to odd places where I don't have a Play:1. My most typical use is to take it out to a Patio table, where the Move is a bit of overkill. The Move is however great for garage. Roam could use a little more battery life. I had to learn how to turn it completely off by holding power button 5 seconds. And with only one multi-function button, I needed to get accustomed to the timing of pushing the button (ie. Power on/off, Bluetooth Pairing). I did test the Bluetooth share ability, altho I am not sure why I need it. It worked, but I had a little trouble aligning the App on my iPad back to normal Sonos Network attributes. Roam would make a GREAT gift to get someone started on the Sonos Ecosystem.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Superior Sound, Wireless

Thought it would be better

Sounds good for a mono speaker however I haven't listened to it much as every time I go to turn it on the battery is dead. Charged it full on Wednesday for use on the weekend and it is dead Sunday with zero use. It loses 20% charge per day. Also when you turn it louder the bass disappears. If you can't hold the same sound signature then limit the volume of the device.

I'll start off by saying the clarity and quality of the music from the Roam is great. However for its price tag in comparison to other speakers on the market it is underwhelming, especially given Sonos speaker reputation. This is the first line of this product so hopefully second generation will improve on some of these lack luster areas. Battery life is very underwhelming, under the 10 hr it suggests. Volume level is average, it's auto-room technology leaves something to be desired when wanting to power a room for a party per say. Also the set up with Sonos music was more difficult then it needed to be and numerous songs were unable to be played on Sonos music. As a whole I would recommend UE Boom over the Roam due to the cheaper price tag, greater battery life, similar water/dirt resistance ratings and volume level.
Pros: Superior Sound
Cons: Difficult Setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
