Sounds great in the rare instances that I can get it working. Can't use Bluetooth unless connect to Wi-Fi first. Every time turn off need to start over setting up unit. Usually app can't find unit. Single power button has different uses depending on how long you hold down button. There is a single tiny light which is supposed to flash or show different colors to indicate different states. Also beeps are supposed to indicate things. Most of the time it is impossible to tell the state of the unit. Instructions consist of holding down various buttons for various number of seconds. Usually nothing happens. They really need to redesign this to have better controls. A basic on/off switch would be a huge improvement. And the ability to connect to Bluetooth without Wi-Fi. What's the point of Bluetooth if you need to set up with Wi-Fi first?
Pros: Superior Sound
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Unreliable

I ordered two when they were announced as it seemed like the perfect solution for an event I had. Over a year and a half down the line and I still struggle to get these to work. I have never had more temperamental tech. Poor connectivity, poor battery life, avoid like the plague! But... when they do work they have a decent output

I use the Roam for my outside entertainment and in my bedroom that has no speakers. All I can say is that the Sonos system has the most crisp, clean sound. It's unlike anything I ever have heard. I have 2 full Sonos speaker systems and just purchased the Roam. I have a different wireless speaker outside and there is no comparison in the sound quality between speakers, Sonos is superior. I'm not technically astute, not bad but not all that tech savvy and I can easily operate this system. You need to hear the Sonos to know what you've been missing.

The only bad Sonos product I've encountered

We own multiple Sonos speakers and love the quality and ease of use. We bought this speaker so we could take it outside and carry it into rooms where we don't have our Sonos Ones. First complaint - the battery life is horrible. It's a "wireless" speaker, but you pretty much need to keep it on the charger or else it's dead. Second complaint - this is the reason we're returning it. It constantly loses connection / goes offline even though it's in a room where our router is. Overall, this was a big disappointment given Sonos' reputation.

I want to like the Roam...

I want to like the Roam, but the connectivity issues have been nothing but frustrating. The Roam is the sixth Sonos product that I've added to my home. Prior to getting Roam, I've not encountered any connection issues with any of my Sonos devices. Since getting the Roam in June '22 I've been in contact with support multiple times to try to remedy my regular connection issues that I still have not experienced with any of my other Sonos devices (2x Play:One, One, Play:5, and Beam Gen1). I regularly (almost daily) have to restart the device for it to be available in the app. Support recommended the issue is with my wireless network, but it's not an issue with any of my other Sonos products. I'm not looking to upgrade my network devices in my apartment for a single Sonos device. Sadly, I thought the problem would have been resolved after speaking with Support or through product updates. Now I'm well outside of Sonos' return window return window.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Streams All My Music, and More
Cons: Unreliable

First problem charging base stop working. New charging base worked for a couple of days and then stopped working now Roam will not turn on or charge. Probably the rechargeable batteries are no longer charging. It was never really good at holding an eight hour charge as was advertised. Sonos hosting advertisements were annoying during my radio show. Did not easily recognize requests to switch from radio to TV.

Cons: 2 yrs old ..Won't charge or turn on, Unreliable

I mainly use the Roam while working at my desk, but I have also taken it outside and it performs fantastic on either setting. I love that it can be used as an Alexa device or a Bluetooth device interchangeably.

Nice little speaker, disappointing battery life

It has great sound for a compact little speaker. I appreciate being able to stream across a wireless network. But the battery life is quite disappointing. The battery drain even when it's not in use is substantial; I went on a 10-day trip leaving it behind fully charged and it was completely dead by the time I got home. That does not happen with my other portable speakers.
