Missed the mark

I was very excited to add the roam to my system. This product really does not live up to the experience I have had with all my other Sonos products. I returned my unit due to it constantly dropping out music playback, and even had trouble getting it to turn on consistently.
Pros: Expandable
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Unreliable

Incompatible with older speakers

The future that different generations of sonos systems are incompatible gives me serious concerns about purchasing their products. We have some gen 1 speakers and purchased and found out that this will not work with them. One of the main advantages of sonos is that everything works together. I purchased this for my father in law only to find out it would not work with his sonos speakers. Telling people to setup up two apps with different speakers that don't talk to each other is a horrible answer. As someone who was considering purchasing sonos speakers, I am seriously discouraged from making my purchase knowing any speakers I buy now might not be compatible with future speakers.
Cons: Difficult Setup

Got this speaker while i was in Japan thinking i could use the Bluetooth option out of the box and connect it to my sonos system once i got home. In order to use bluetooth you have to first connect it to a sonos system even if you only intend to use it for bluetooth. Do not get this if your not home and hopefully you dont accidentaly unpaior it while your away because you wont be able to use the bluetooth function anymore. This is by far the worst part about this speaker. Other then that it sounds great and syncs to your sonos account after you get home.

I acquired speaker as our camping adventure friendly speaker. It's integrated into our living space and syncs up with 2 era 100's and a Move2. My only negative is the group volume adjustment doesn't adjust proportionally to the speaker's capacity. The Era's at volume 10 require the Roam to be at 35 but adjusting the group to 12 only increases the roam to 37 instead of bumping the roam to 42. I thought Trueplay would have been able to detect the volume adjustment more accurately.
