I bought 4 Roam speakers and chargers to use at our lake house and within 18 months, 2 of them quit working completely. I contacted Sonos and of course they were out of warranty and the best they would do is 30% off toward a new speaker! Apparently there is a known issue with battery longevity in the Roam speakers which definitely needs to be addressed. After number 2 went, I decided to replace it with a Play SL instead as they have excellent sound and are very reliable while being fairly small in size. The Roam has excellent sound and would be good as strictly a portable speaker I suppose but my application requires more of a "fixed" speaker location.
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Unreliable

Button configuration is extremely poor and are difficult to see. Bluetooth pairing is confusing to remember as well. Finally, the device just stopped charging (while showing solid orange light). This has been a problem that has been reported by numerous customers on the SONOS blog. And by the way, the purported "fix" of holding power button down for 12 seconds DOES NOT solve the problem.

Battery suddenly stopped charging. Speaker was 14 months old. Was given offer to repurchase suspect product for 30% less, only after returning defective speaker. Why would any one want to reinvest in a bad product with no support behind it? Do better. Sonos.

I have owned it for five days, right away I noticed it didn't have much bottom end compared to my Bose SoundLink Revolve II. I wanted a new speaker for work and I listened to everything from Jazz to Techno, the speaker would just shut off for no reason and then I would have to re authorize each music app. Very inconsistent and unreliable. Very clear when it was working.

My only comparison is a UE boom portable wireless speaker. That thing lasted a lifetime. When it comes to a small, wireless, portable speaker-- I don't have many expectations; the main priority is that it is wireless, portable, and WORKS. Unfortunately the Sonos roam uses battery when it's not in use, so it is dead every time I go to use it.

Amazing sound, set up outside of home impossible

Sound is amazing when I got it set up on my home WiFi. For the life of me, I can not figure it out outside of my home. Takes me a good 5-10 minutes every time to connect it to my phone to play music. Any tricks would be greatly appreciated. .
