Great clarity w/absent base

The Roam seems like it has so much potential, an offering from a strong brand, great clarity, and room filling audio but unfortunately it's brought down by the lack of any decent base and at this price point, that's rather surprising that Sonos engineers released something with such a large oversight.
Pros: Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use, Very weak base
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm currently using it in my bathroom while I get ready for work. I need it to be quiet, so I don't disturb my roommate, which it is prefect for or to pack to travel with, it will be great. However, when using it in other places,ie larger rooms, it does not get loud enough or bassy enough to really enjoy. The sound quality is great with the exception of the bass. I believe, for the ways that I would like to use this device, I made a poor choice. I should I chosen a larger version or a different product altogether.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
Cons: Not enough bass, Too Quiet
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I use this primarily as an aux speaker for my Windows 10 laptop. Compared to my Bose Bluetooth speaker, the sound is comparable, albeit I use it primary to listen to NFL (Philadelphia Eagles) football games. What I don't like is that you have to install an app on your mobile device to set it up and manage some settings. But suspect this is necessary if you want to set up multiple speakers, which I don't. I don't like that you have to access the app to see the battery charge level when charging, seems like there would LEDs on the speaker itself. And I don't care for the volume and other controls because they are difficult to see in low light.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been a Sonos advocate since the beginning, with my first multi-zone system purchased in 2002. At one point, I was a reseller even. So I have considerable experience with Sonos. I have worked in technology all my career. So it is safe to say that I absolutely know what I am doing. But I have to be clear about a fundamental mistake that Sonos seems to continue to perpetuate. Having S1 and S2 is simply an awful decision. Consumers do not want or care to know the difference. Yet, Sonos continues to separate the two, and forces consumers to sort it out. This must be a huge burden on Sonos' support operation, and I imagine the main source of returns. The limitations of the early-gen hardware CAN be coded around! If you need to limit some components then do so-but do not put that burden on your customers. Also, setting up the little Roam should have taken less than a minute. But since I have S1 at home, I had to wrestle with setup on S2-and all I wanted to use the Roam for was bluetooth! That should not have been necessary. For those of you who aren't comfortable with multiple add/drop and factory resets, nor patient enough to deal with those idiosyncracies and fiddly bits, this is not the setup for you. If you already have an S2-based system, then you're probably going to be just fine. That said, the sound quality out of this tiny thing is really good (for its size). I am using this as the main audio in my track car (removing the built-in) for when I'm not on track. The Truesound adaptations are pretty good, even though I had hoped for better. And now that I have it all bluetooth-setup, it is super easy to use.
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound
Cons: Difficult Setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Just ok for Sonos.

Just ok. You can do much better for the same amount of money. This was very difficult to set up, and still fails to connect occasionally. I have 6 other Sonos products so I'm not a stranger to the sonos ecosystem. Sound is just ok. I think Altec Lansing and Bose portables have better sound, for a lower cost. The main reason I purchased this is because of the charging base. Grab and go and you have quick, portable sound.
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Free Control Options
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is an affordable solution for small rooms

Most people will use this for portable, outdoor sound but I find these are ideal for small rooms and areas where you want background music. I also have two outside- one on my front porch and one on my back porch. Both are covered but Roam is weather resistant so they work well in damp areas. Its a cost effective way to round out your whole house system.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
Cons: Good sound, not for rooms where you want hifi
I would recommend this to a friend!
