Good product, needs software enhancements

A couple things to work on: 1) when out of WiFi range, Roam switched to Bluetooth and kept playing but I could not access and change my Pandora genre selection. Pandora works on 4G so you should still be able to make changes even outside WiFi. 2) Roam did not automatically recognize my existing Sonos network even though I had updated the Sonos app. Ideally the Roam should work seamlessly as another room speaker with the existing network.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use

My new go to golf cart speaker

I could not wait to get my hands on this product once it was announced. I immediately ordered one because my old golf cart speaker was starting to wear out. I use this almost exclusively for golf but liked the idea of having something portable around the house to expand my current Sonos system. I have 6 rooms with Sonos in my house so adding the mobility of something like this was excited for outdoor use away from the home or if one of the kids wanted to bring the speaker into their room, a guest could listen in the bathroom getting ready etc. PROS: Super easy to set up even when away from the home. On the golf course it picks up my phone instantly. Very easy to stream Spotify content through the speaker when listening at an enjoyable level. Extremely portable. CONS: Battery life when not on a charger is great. It will reduce quickly when not in use and not plugged in (very possible I am the problem here but I have not figured it out yet). That leads me to my second issue is I have trouble telling if the system is on/off or in pairing mode. This may just be a learning curve thing (possibly my error) but it is not as easy for me as the other Sonos products. When I really start to have a good time on the course and want to crank some tunes the sound quality at max volume levels is just okay. But this is a small portable speaker so understandably so that you would lose audio quality at the high levels. It does not sound as good at high volume as my Wingman or my Jambox that I would previously use. Overall for the money I think it is extremely worth the investment. The Pros outweigh the Cons especially if you are an existing Sonos customer. I love using it around the house almost as much as on the golf course. I would buy again.

I like Sonos. I like the Roam. Wish the speakers would reliably show up on my iPhone list of speakers. Sonos drops often. Even at home when two can be played together (yes I dropped additional coins) I sometimes don't see the other speaker.

I play it in conjunction with my other Sonos speakers throughout the house for a more enhanced listening experience, I play it our while on the garage and even inside my shower. The ability of voice control is awesome. I compared it to my prior portable, a Bose Soundlink Micro, even though the Bose speaker is really good for the size, the Sonos roam's sound quality is superior. I love all mu Sonos speakers: Sonos Play 5, Sonos One, Sonos Move and Sonos Roam.
