Everything You Want In A Bluetooth Speaker... And More!

Out of the box, the speaker didn't astound me. I was a little underwhelmed by the volume, and the sound quality (even after Trueplay) wasn't significantly better than my JBL Flip 4. However, a few things were immediately awesome. 1) The connectivity to my Sonos ecosystem is invaluable. I tend to leave the Roam in my bathroom (unless we're heading out for a bike ride, hike, or some golf), so it is awesome to be able to listen to music on my Roam in the shower that my family might be listening to in the living room. Unsurprisingly, the speaker has only gotten better the more I've used it. The bass is getting richer and the speaker is breaking in very nicely. I compared the Roam to one of my Sonos Ones last night and aside from the obvious lack of deep lows, they sounded comparable. The Roam holds its own, and certainly packs a punch if you turn it up to 80-90%! Overall, I love this product. The Roam itself is satisfying to hold and feels very well made. You will love it!
Pros: Alexa, Different Music, Different Rooms, Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Streams All My Music, and More, Sturdy Build, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Volume Is Good, Not Great

I have used sonos speakers for years and years & always loved the quality & sound input, especially when new versions have come out. Unfortunately, this speaker doesn't meet my expectations when it comes to sonos brand and the price. It took me over 24hr's to get a full charge. The batter reaches zero and since then I can't then it on and it won't charge to reconnect to sonos app. I would like to hear from customer service before returning item to see if we can rectify. - 2.5 stars
Pros: Different Music, Different Rooms, Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
Cons: Charging is super slow, took over 24 hrs, Doesn't always connect sonos app., Sound quality & Sonos brand doesnt reflect price, Unreliable

First Sonos product I don't love

I don't love this product. It automatically turns on whenever you use the Sonos app. It then just slowly sucks battery life, so when you take the speaker for when you "actually" want to use it it's totally dead. I thought my speaker was malfunctioning, but this feature is intentionally. Do a Google search for "Sonos Roam keeps turning on" and "Sonos Roam battery life" and you'll find a lot of people that aren't pumped.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Auto Wake Feature is Terrible, Poor Battery Life

Room for major improvement

I bought this for rv camping and I'm not a fan. It doesn't charge being plugged in, while playing. It randomly disconnects in Bluetooth mode. My phone is connected to the wifi here but the roam won't connect to the same signal. That's not a big deal though. The MAJOR problem is not playing while plugged in. I will be purchasing a competitors product and will not recommend this speaker to anyone.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Streams All My Music, and More, Wireless
Cons: Unreliable

My first Roam wouldn't charge after its first use, so I returned it to Sonos at the advice of their technicians. The replacement unit won't charge or power on and must be hard reset if the battery runs down to 0%, which happens regularly given its short battery life (7ish hours) and my heavy usage while working. Having used Bose and JBL speakers in the past, I'm enjoying the sound output from the Roam, but these technical issues are frustrating.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Free Control Options, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult to Use, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for bathroom, or to bring with you wherever you go. The battery is not reliable though, when not playing music.

I travel a lot. I use a lot of tech. I have had Sonos in my apartment for years. I bought 2 Roams for use in hotels. 2 because I want stereo sound. Guess what, they can't do that via Bluetooth, only WiFi. The UE Boom has been able to do this for YEARS, in fact you can group 50 Booms together if you wanted. It's easy. It's fast. It sounds great! The Roam, a brand new luxury product from THE wireless audio company? Nope! So- after a very slow process, and the fact there's no way to connect them to hotel WiFi because of the capture/sign-in page, I finally get them connected via my phone's hotspot/ad hoc WiFi network. They sound GREAT! Yay! Incredible! However- they keep dropping off the WiFi. Do they automatically reconnect? No! Do I have to reset them to factory default and reconnect them via that slow process (we're talking 10+ minutes of watching progress circles spin) every time? Yes. Can this be accomplished from the phone creating the hotspot? No! I have to do it from my iPad because the Sonos app on the phone can't see the Sonos devices connected to the network created by the phone! Also- during the 4 days of fighting to keep them on the hotspot, they used over 10GB of data! That's right, you can't play anything you've downloaded on your device to them when on WiFi, they have to stream from the internet. If Sonos can get their act together and let you stereo pair these via Bluetooth so you can play local files/videos straight to them rather than suck up gobs of data, I would highly recommend them. They sound OK as a single speaker, but they are highly directional. I would instead recommend the UE Boom as a single speaker for their 360° sound.
Pros: Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed overall with this as I have other Sonos products and had high hopes. Sound is weak, and although setting up is easy, constantly disconnects. Purchased the set to play together and one or the other would disconnect. For the price point, you could get just about any other speaker and be better off.
Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Poor Sound Quality, Unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
