Sounds like every other Bluetooth speaker

I have a lot of Sonos gear at my house already, and was expecting a bit more out of the Roam. It sounds ok, but it really sounds just like every other Bluetooth speaker at or near this price point. I own a JBL and Bose Bluetooth speaker as well and actually I probably prefer the sound of both of those to the Roam, and both were about half the price. Theres no getting around physics, a tiny driver simply can't move a lot of air.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was very excited when Sonos came out with Roam but ultimately was disappointed with the product and ended up returning it. For being a portable speaker the sound was alright but not like the regular Sonos product line. The feature I was most disappointed in was the battery life and the response I received from Sonos Support. Apparently the speaker will only charge on a 5V/2A output USB adapter and doesn't come with one in the box so you either need to have one already or plan on buying their adapter for $20.00. Hopefully they will modify the Roam and come out with a 2nd version that will be better than the first or include a power adapter since it doesn't work on standard USB adapters.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Wireless
Cons: Poor Sound Quality, Power Adapter, Short Battery Life

The Bluetooth pass through really let me down :(

The sound quality was great until you got past half then the lows seemed to go away and the feature I was most excited for, as an Samsung user, was the Bluetooth pass through to the rest of my system and it was so spotty! The audio would cut in and out with the rest of my speakers and it was not a good experience. I wouldn't say don't buy this or any of there other products because I love Sonos and I'm sure the issue will be fixed with a software update, but for now I have returned my roam in hopes that they will fix the issue at a later date so I can buy one again

Great speaker and my first one. I'm a headphone buff as I loved the audio fidelity but this speaker is so powerful and just one roam fills my room. The bass is powerful and the mids and lows are clear. It seems a tad bit expensive but for the audio and build quality its worth it (yup its pretty sturdy and I appreciate that)

I was really excited about this because I wanted a way to connect to my other Sonos devices via bluetooth. This speaker serves that purpose; however, I'm disappointed with the speakers use as a standalone bluetooth speaker. The battery life sucks and the sound doesn't have the bass needed for my liking. The sound quality is good; however, it's just not enough "hmph." I'll definitely use this speaker with my other products, but I'll have to get a JBL for my portable bluetooth speaker needs.

Short battery life

I was so excited to get the Roam to round out my Sonos system. The plan was to replace a portable, waterproof JBL speaker that we've taken everywhere, but this speaker is certainly no replacement. What a bummer. Not only is the battery life bad compared to the JBL, the sound seems of equal caliber, and it's a little confusing to turn on and off, connect, etc. I was thinking I'd buy a couple of these, but I've abandoned that plan. I'm honestly disappointed.
