I would not recommend this product until improves

I would like to start out saying that I am a huge Sonos fan. I have several Sonos Ones throughout my house, a Sonos five, and a Sonos sound bar. I love the sound from them and there versatility of the products. That being said, I have been waiting for Sonos to come out with a product like the Roam. I resisted the urge to purchase similar products from Bose. Once I saw the Roam I was very excited to order and receive it. The sound coming from it is very good. My biggest problem with it is the battery technology. I have synced the Roam with my current Sonos network.But it seems when the battery goes dead it does not show up on the network. I plug it in hoping it will get power and show up on the network, but it takes a long time to show up on the network. I specifically purchased this product because of the bluetooth capabilities. If the battery runs out it will not be able to connect to bluetooth for a long period of time. The battery goes dead quickly. It advertises 10 hours of run time, but I get less than half of that. And the battery goes dead within a day or two if the product sits unused with the power turned off. All this adds up to being very frustrated with the product when I am ready to listen to music and it is not charged. It would not be that big of a deal if I could just plug and play, but it appears the battery requires some type of charge before allowing that.

Concerned about battery life

First, I really my Sonos products. I have a total of 6 Sonos speakers. But I'm unsure about the Roam. I've noticed significant battery drain; unlike my regular portable Bluetooth speakers. The instructions say that the battery does not drain when not being used. I experimented, charging the Roam to 100%. Left it unused for 4 days. It is not sync'd to any voice activation. After 4 days I "turned it on". The battery was 63%. This should not be the case for a portable speaker. If I was to take it camping and did not have a power source, I could not rely on this speaker.
Pros: Wireless

Terrible battery life; charging is a pain

This was a gift, and while the sound quality is great, the battery dies SO FAST. It's impossible to keep the Roam turned off, and so it's constantly depleting its battery; plus you have to buy a special charger of at least 10W. Sonos doesn't provide the kind the Roam needs w/purchase, and w/a standard iPhone base it takes literally five days to charge. It then takes less than five hours to deplete that entire charge, even with the Roam turned off (it turns itself back on). A total pain in the neck; I was excited about getting into Sonos products, but this is a huge letdown.

Great Sound But Some Issues

I am pleasantly surprised by the sound from such a little speaker. I have SONOS all over my multilevel home but have a few rooms without any available outlets or space to mount even a ONE. The ROAM has me covered. I take on my deck (Wifi) and out to my garage and garden (BT) and it sounds great. My only issue is that it struggles with jumping from AirPlay2 back to my SONOS network and then to Bluetooth. In a normal day I want to switch sources and connection types ALOT and it seems like that's not fully worked out yet. I'm hoping it's just a matter of a software update but it is annoying.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Expandable, Streams All My Music, and More, Superior Sound, Wireless
Cons: Connection issues

Very complicating and not user friendly

This product has excellent sound quality however we have run into entirely too many problems that make me frustrated with the device. I could easily spend less money on a Bluetooth speaker where I can play any of my music with an equivalent sound quality. The numerous times I've been on the phone with technical support it seems rehearsed and no one has answers. I can't imagine my problems are so unique.

Cons: Difficult Setup, Difficult to Use, Unreliable

I have two Sonos One's and am very happy with them. So I thought I'd try the new Sonos Roam. While the sound quality is outstanding, the battery life is very limited. I would not recommend this product due to the short battery life.
