I love the voice activation feature, being able to have the lid open as I walk from the counter with garbage cuts down on making a mess on the floor

We love her— great to not have to use hands or feet to open up. One can stopped working and simple human was helpful in replacing defective one.

Love it! Like the fact that it has dual compartments so we don't need an extra can/bag in the kitchen for recyclables. Hope it keeps on working well!

Good. Can be better

Thought it was battery powered but have to connect, voice opens can randomly by TV audio or during conversations, wish the sensor is facing upwards as can opens as we walk by every time (not good because of garbage smell, annoying, worries that motor might wear off sooner).
Recycle is awesome convenience, good storage, ended up using “open can” more than we thought, looks good and good storage.

Our voice and motion sensor can is designed to open when you say "open can" or when something within 6" to 8" passes over the sensor. Conversational phrases and especially background noise from TV's or other devices are similar to the command and their sound waves may trigger the can and open it. This is totally normal and will not negatively effect or wear out the can. The included power adapter or 6 high-capacity alkaline AA batteries can be used to power the product.

THE WORST

I have had nothing but problems with this garbage can from nearly the beginning. These are VERY expensive and it also scratches easily!! It looks like crap already. Not happy at all. Waste of money. It doesn't open half the time.
It started having issues within 2 months of owning it. I have to reset it every few days.
In the beginning it was fun and worked well but pretty soon it was showing issues. I would unplug it open close it and that would fix it temporarily. I have followed the instructions on the website to reset it. NOT HAPPY. Unless I have a lemon for some reason I will probably never spend my hard earned money again on a simple human garbage can.

At first, I was really hesitant to be excited about having to purchase custom liners...but now that we have our new simplehuman can, I can say that the custom liners are well worth it! Since the bags fit the can perfectly, our can fills up more evenly. We absolutely love having this can in our household and we will never to go back to a traditional kitchen trash can!

I never thought I would spend this much for a trash can, but I've been looking for a dog-proof solution for both trash and recycle and this is it. I wish the recycle area were larger but that's the only change I would make. I have yet to try standard trash bags but it seems they would work well. I'm thrilled with my purchase.
