We LOVE our kitchen garbage/recycle can.

I bought the dual compartment sensor can to replace our old foot pedal can in the kitchen that broke. My family thought it was a little odd for me to purchase a can I can ask to open. However, now that we been using it, everyone loves it. We've, rather embarrassingly, even found ourselves saying "Open Can" to the trash can outside.
Once we'd started using this can, there's no going back to an ordinary can. It's worth the money. The liners fit perfectly and being able to have a stash of them inside the can is convenient. Plus I no longer have a cardboard box sitting next to the trash can for the recyclables - it's all hidden away.
The only downside is after experiencing the quality, I've started buying more simplehuman items for the other rooms in my house. It's a gateway product!

Pretty but annoying

Overall I like it. The bins look small but can pack a lot in trash. The recycling bin is the same size but we find we have to empty it quite often. Be sure to break things down before placing them in bin.
The only issue I have is that it has to be placed in my kitchen where people walk next to it. If you get to close it opens every time even when you don’t need it. Saying open/close can doesn’t work that well. Sometimes I find myself yelling at it. It’s easier to just go over and wave at it.
We also find that when nobody is even in the kitchen, it will open and close on its own.. which my dogs hate and think it’s a person so they bark at it when it does that.
It’s very beautiful For a trash can and friends say it’s super fancy so we will keep it.

Sensor doesn't work, don't buy!

It's a nice looking can, but the sensor is faulty after receiving a replacement can that is malfunctioning the same as my initial can. Doesn't stay open when you are in front of it or after you say 'stay open'. i.e. the sensor can doesn't sense anything. Would not recommend.

This trash can will impress your friends to no end. Comes in HUGE box. The voice control works mighty fine. We had the sensor trash can but wanted to get one for recycling. Now we are set with the new voice and sensor control cans.

Love the Black Stainless Steel

Got the Black Stainless Steel Dual Can. Have this in my Laundry Room. Matches my Samsung Black Large Washer & Dryer by the back door.. Replaced the simplehuman 45 litre Semi-Round Sensor Can , Brushed Stainless Steel so I could get rid of the old Fresh Step plastic cat litter container I used for a recycle bin for years. I have it plugged in to save on batteries and saves on space. Love it.

The look and efficiency of this trash can is great.
The only really annoying thing is it opens on its own randomly!

Our voice and motion sensor can is designed to open when you say "open can" or when something within 6" to 8" passes over the sensor. Conversational phrases and especially background noise from TV's or other devices are similar to the command and their sound waves may trigger the can and open it. This is totally normal and will not negatively effect or wear out the can.
