This is the first tiller I have ever purchased and the the first SNOW JOE/SUN JOE Product I have ever purchased and I have to say what a little brut of a machine.I live in Connecticut and it seems no matter where you put a shovel into the ground you hit one rock or a ton of them and the ground is so compact we have a lot of clay in my area .The area where I put in a garden is very clay and hard compact soil but this machine went at it like a bull dog !!! what a product -so good to purchase something that works like it should !! Can't say enough about this tiller it's the best 16 in. 12 amp model TJ603E I have purchased !!!
Pros: Handling/Manueverability, Features, Quality Cut, Low Vibration, Ease Of Assembly, Style/Design, Reduced Noise, Easy To Use, Quality Construction, Weight

Did exactly what I asked it to do. Tilled up a 20 by 45 foot area of virgin lawn for first time garden. Worked it over in one direction and then rotated my work area 90 degrees and finished the tilling. I spread it out over a portion of two days due to my age. The machine was capable of doing it one, but not me.....

I had another brand of electric tiller that burned out on me twice. The first time I took it to get it repaired and after almost 2 months they told me parts were not available. They did send me a new one free of charge since it was under warranty. I used it last year without a problem. This year I was tilling my front yard which had hard packed clay and the motor burned out again after 3 passes. I gave up on it and bought this Sun Joe brand. It started on that hard packed clay and ran like a champion. The power of this Sun Joe Tiller is exceptional. I wish that I had purchased a Sun Joe to begin with. the only complaint I have is with the position of the on-off switch. As I use the tiller my hand has a tendency to move toward the back of the handle and I accidentally release the switch. This happens multiple times. If the switch was either placed further back on the handle by about 1/2" or if a longer switch was used then it would be much easier to control. I am going to have to come up with something that I can attach to the handle or switch to cure that one design defect.
Pros: Ease Of Assembly, Easy To Use, Reduced Noise, Handling/Manueverability, Quality Construction
I have always been reluctant to buy electric yard equipment. This cut through our orange clay yard for our garden with great results. It was damp the first time I broke up the ground, I didn't have time to wait. It did good. As the ground dried and I went over it again, it worked better and better. I haven't been this pleased with a new purchase in quite a while. Absolutely recommend.

This machine is just right for the small home owner/gardener. Makes it possible for everyone to enjoy fresh vegetables rather than the imported (gased to rippen) you get in the store; no smell or taste. I had almost forgot what a real tomatoe tasted like.
Pros: Powerful, Lightweight, Easy To Use, Rugged, Compact
The tiller was fairly simple to assemble. One of the screw wells on the throttle handle was cracked upon receipt but this was not an immediate concern. The handle seems to be constructed of a lightweight plastic, I hope it will hold up to the moderate level of use I intend to put it through. The tiller has sufficient power for moderate use, I would not expect it to dig through compacted soil like a gas powered rear tine tiller would be able to do. I am looking forward to using this tiller especially since I will not have to deal with the hassle of using two cycle engine or seeking out ethanol free gasoline.
Unit is small light powerful nimble but I discovered when the tiller failed, I took the gear box and noticed that the gearbox was held by four wood screws to a nylon block, Two adjacent screws eventually became loose and a result the bevel gear was forced to work at an angle that ventually wore out the bevel fiber glass gear tooth. If screws were redesigned with a bolt and a locknut it should do the job.
I got the sunjoe tiller 4 years ago. It has consistantly exceeded my expectations. I used a gas powered tiller for years it was noisy, heavy and spit hot oil on me. This tiller is easy to use and works well every time. I find that if you walk slowly forward with the tiller to loosen the dirt and then walk slowly backward to dig a little deeper it really does an excellent job on garden soil.
