I borrrowed the 16 inch sun joe tiller and turned my garden over like achamp. Given there were ssome snags because I used straw fro mulch this summer and left the bailing string in the garden. Well Mr Sun Joe ate it up around the housing . It took me a couple4 hours to get it cut away but it was my own fault., I'm oprdering one right now for myself a the deal yo have. I've had other Joe products and I'm always happy when using them.
A useful small tiller but unfortunately the motor no longer has enough power to do any tilling after a few years use. A replacement motor is not available which means having to buy an entire new tiller.
I had been looking for a decent used gas tiller on CL with no luck. The Sun Joe deal popped up in FB, and it was not much more than renting a gas one for 4 hours, so I took the plunge. We had a horribly overgrown flower bed, and the Sun Joe handled it with no problem. Went thru some 1/2" root structures just fine. Will likely use it to put in some vegi beds next spring.
All in all, a very capable tiller for the price. I would not use it to tear up a whole lawn, but for smaller jobs, it should work well for you. Q
I bought this tiller last spring. Awesome little machine for what it is. PROS: Light weight. Plenty of power to get through the hard pack. This thing really tears it up! CONS: Only one speed..... Throws dirt too far. Leaves an nicer bead if you work it backwards..... pulling it toward the operator.
Used this tiller to cultivate and expand my garden to a 12' x 16' size. I was very impressed with how this unit worked; I truly don't think a similar sized gas unit would have done better. It broke up the expanded hard packed soil area and then tilled it to fine grade soil. It handled the stony / rocky soil very well and I removed a third of a wheel barrel load of stones. I added leaves that I mulched with the lawn mower and the tiller blended them in with the soil. I had nothing negative and recommend.
Have had this for 26 months. Only used a few times. Motor brushes wore out. Called customer service. They said they don't have a part number for brushes. Told me if it was still in warranty they would send me a replacement. It is 2 months past warranty, so guess I'm screwed. Any suggestions to finding brushes would be a great help.

I wrote a review for this reliable tiller when I bought it several years ago. I had to follow up now, based on this recent success. Having moved into a new home, I attempted to hand-dig 100 feet trench for 100' of 4" corrugated drainage pipe (dumb idea). When I wasn't pleased with my rental options for trenchers, I thought to try my Sun Joe. Well, while a proper gas-powered trencher would have been better/easier, I was amazed at how my TJ603E performed. I used it to dig all 100', with, yes, all the rocks, roots, and assorted debris you’d expect, and it performed like a champ. Far more, I venture, than the machine was designed to perform. Thanks Sun Joe for such a robust product. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an electric-powered tiller.
