I have a few electrical humidors, and this one is different because it is not a converted wine cooler but an actual humidor with a humidification unit installed inside. The support is efficient and caring.

So much room for improvement...

The LOUD whirring and clicking is awful. This price point deserves better insulation. Needs to come with 5 drawers instead of 3. Impossible to determine water level. Customer service unresponsive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Humidity Issues

The 840C is a sharp looking humidor but unfortunately has a major flaw. The humidity reading on the unit is 6%-7% higher than what two calibrated hygrometers inside the unit are reading. I seasoned the drawers when I received it last week but 5 days later, the humidity is still reading way too high on the read out vs. the hygrometers. It's really disappointing to spend $1500 and not have the most important feature to most buyers work correctly. I have spoken to customer service and they say they are looking into the problem, but no call back yet. Many others are having the same issue, look at the comments under reviews on You tube. Not sure what they can do at this point outside replacing the unit (doubt someone is coming to Florida to recalibrate my humidor). I wonder if the unit is really out of stock or they stopped shipping or taking orders knowing the humidity issue is prevalent? Setting the unit's humidity at 6%-7% higher to compensate for the problem is not a good solution for me. As stated above, for this price, you would expect the humidity inside the humidor to be what you set it at. Just fyi, I have approximately 175 cigars in the humidor, so it is not empty. Disappointed so far.

Great product, but not 100% accurate.

As instructed, once arrived, I let it sit for 24hrs prior to turning it on. Once I did turn it on the next day, I spent the next 48hrs seasoning all the drawers via wiping them down with distilled water several times and running the unit on 75% humidity. Day 4, loaded all my sticks and I dropped the humidity level to 66% on the unit. I've noticed 4hrs in, all 3 of my calibrated hygrometers were reading 56% humidity. So, again I set the unit to max, 75% humidity and left it over night. Now all my hygrometers are reading 65/66%. Which is perfect, but there's a 10% difference what the unit is reading and what the actual humidity is. Furthermore, the unit is constantly running. It's turns off for about a minute and turns back on, as constantly trying to adjust temp or humidity. Not sure if the unit is faulty or they're designed to work that way.

Wouldn't do it's Primary function - humidity crtl

I wanted to love this unit. It seems well made but the humidity controls are way off. Stetting the unit to max humidity 75% yielded real humidity (verified hygrometers) of 62% or not enough to store my cigars. I worked with Newair hoping there was a way to reset the internal hygrometer but in 6 phone calls it never was revealed. They were aware of the issue so it must have been a bad batch. It happens. My beef with Newair is that when I tried to talk with anyone who knew about the product, I was told that they weren't available. The CS reps were nice but not knowledgable and as such were not helpful in the process. In the end, I sent the unit back (Keep the packaging) and was refunded. It's too bad because the unit is the perfect size for me.

Does not do it's one job.

After spending the money to protect my cigars only to find out the humidity sensor in the unit is off by 14% and therefore never runs. Also who ever counted how many cigars this thing can hold is way no where close to 840. It wouldn't even hold 840 with two more drawers added. You can't however add the drawers because new air support can't find them. New air can't even send me a replacement unit. So now I have over $10k in cigars that I'm going to have to store in a Yeti with my cigar oasis.

This cigar humidor is simply amazing!!! Tons of room for my sticks AND BOXES!!! The lighting is great so you can see every shelf. The fan is ultra-quiet, and this thing is simply a beautiful beast of a humidor!!! Oh, and having that interior water reservoir in there integrated into the bottom shelf makes it easy to maintain humidity year-round!

So close to perfection

I was so excited to get this unit. I upgraded from the 250 count NewAir humidor. This thing looks great in my bar. I love the super bright lights inside, that is a huge upgrade from the strange single blue light that lit nothing. The unit is pretty quiet but it does make some weird sounds unlike my last humidor or fridge. I'm assuming it is from whatever compressor and it is supposed to make a knocking noise. The built in humidification system seems to work well even thought the readings on the unit doesn't match what is says on my hygrometer. The drawers are my issue and why I can't give this unit 5 stars. The dividers in the three top drawers are glued in place and I am to afraid to remove them because it might damage the drawer. The dividers are nice for loose cigars but if you have boxes they are not very accommodating. I have 8 boxes in this unit and only two fit within the dividers and they are both size A cigars so long and thin cigars and boxes. The other boxes just sit in there across the divider and you can't stack them on top of each other if they are sitting like that. Also the since there are only three of the drawers on top they could have made them deeper or added another drawer. If they were deeper you could put more cigars in them because once you are over the edge of the drawers you can not stack them much higher unless you create a pyramid. I guess you could fit 840 cigars in there if you had them in a bunch of bags or something I don't know. This is a big unit and I was hoping I could fit all of my cigars in it (I have no where near 840) but since I can't stack boxes or cigars to high I can't fit as many in there as I was hoping to. This is still the most impressive unit of this type that I've seen and the way the drawers slide out is super nice. I just wish there was removable dividers or at least one shelf without a divider on it so it would be easier to stack boxes inside.
