NewAir 840 with temp and humidity control.

The unit does make more noise than expected. Mine makes an on again off again clicking noise. If you are watching tv in the same room it is an issue. When you fill it with cigars there is a big difference ( top to bottom )with both temperature and humidity. The biggest difference is with the humidity. The digital display is not accurate and should not be relied on. You will need a calibrated hygrometer. I bought this unit to keep my cigars in mint condition. I don't feel mint is the condition I will be able to meet. The unit looks good. It seals tight. The drawers operate great. Lights are awesome. However, the primary reason one buys a humidor it to keep the cigars at the proper temp and humidity.

Humidity was all over the place. I've used Boveda for years and it's been fine in keeping things stable, but when used in this unit it fluctuated from 95% -60%. Needless to say, some gunk started to form on the cigars. Really not worth the risk at all.

Have had three weeks, but have to return. I really wanted this to work it is a beautiful unit but if you are buying a 800 cigar humidor you are protecting an investment. The humidity unit is not of the quality to protect my investment. The humidity is all over the place and is not accurate, so I have three hydrometers in the unit and top to bottom is not equal either. The unit is terrible to fill. There is not a functioning level indicator. So to fill you have to get on your knees, open the bottom drawer, shine a flashlight on the reservoir and pray you don't overfill because it leaks on the floor of the unit. If you splash distilled water while filling it ends up on your cigars in the bottom drawer. My opinion bad design. Other nit picky weird items are you have to bend down to read temp/humidity cant just look at unit and see. Also would love the partitions in the drawers to be moveable. Noise is louder than expected but not unbearable. I believe it is the humification system and not the compressor. Compressor and temp control seem to work great. May try 4 large humidification packs but not sure if I can turn off humification system and an expensive unit if you have to use packs all the time. One last odd thing with unit came small plastic bag with door handle screws, but bag included a bunch of other parts and an hex key, no idea what they are for.

Inconsistent humidity, noisy and doesn't fit "840"

Like many others, I wanted to love this unit. Ascetically it looks awesome. Unfortunately the only reason I bought it was for long term aging and storage, temp and humidity control. I was going to get the Remington but liked how compact and clean this looked, along with the NewAir reputation. I can not get the humidity to read properly or stay consistent. I followed all directions from day one and even re-did everything per the direction of customer service. I have 3 hygrometers and each reads different and about 10% less then what it is set at. The unit also makes many clicking noises which I've gotten used to but does get annoying when watching a movie or something. Lastly the only way your fitting anymore than 300 cigars is in zip lock bags. I have mine stacked but then they end up falling all over when trying to get something from the bottom, I'm fairly OCD and have given up trying to keep the organized. You won't be fitting boxes in here. I did call NewAir and the said they would replace the unit, but they are out of stock... still. I can't return it. I really love the way it looks and fits but I think they need to tweak this a little.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Received broken unit.

Upon arrival I was excited to open my new humidor and start the wonderful process of preparing. Quickly to realize the unit I received was damaged. The bottom drawer had the slide ripped out of the bottom causing damage to the cedar drawer, the slide itself was also pulled from the inside of the unit causing a large screw hole to be created inside the unit l. Overall pretty disappointed, not only spending so much money on the unit but now another week wait for a usable unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had the 840 for several months now. At first the readings on both temp and humidity were off. Which I know will not be perfect out of box. Looked up how to calibrate. The calibration settings are in celsius only from what I can tell. Easy enough to figure out to fahrenheit.. Once all is set and tested with meters on each shelf and dialed in. It is perfect now to store and age what I want. It has about 300+ - cigars and working perfectly.
