This saw has good reach and boy it’s surprising how well it cuts! The battery lasts longer than my arms holding it up. Very handy saw.

40V Cordess Pole Saw and Hedge Trimmer
on August 5, 2022

The 40V Cordless Pole Saw and trimmer paid for itself in the first 30 minutes of use. Cut down and cut up a 30 foot crepe myrtle in about 10 minutes, and used the trimmer to cut three lilac bushes and a hedge that had gotten out of control over the last 3 years. That job was done in about 15 minutes. A solid piece of equipment that is very simple to use. It has a little weight to it, and when you use the third extension it is a good idea to use the support strap that accompanies the trimmer.

Hello Jwc 518,

We're sorry for your experience with your GreenWorks Pole hedge trimmer. Please be advised if the poles have not been secured, they will disconnect from use due to vibration. We advise taking the unit apart and attaching them back together. This often solves the issue.

Align the arrow on the end of the main handle with the arrow on the trimmer head.
Push the trimmer head onto the handle until it comes into contact with the red line, a click sound can be heard when proper connection is made.
Fasten the trimmer head cam lock. The poles should not wobble when it's fully secured.

To start the hedge trimmer:

You must first push the lock out trigger
Then squeeze the switch trigger
Using your other hand depress the front trigger.

Once the pole hedge trimmer starts, you can release the lock out trigger and continue to hold the switch trigger and front trigger. If you are still having issues with the pole hedge trimmer, please do not hesitate to contact support at 1-888-909-6757 for assistance. We are here to help.

I have had this for 3 years and it still performs great. Easy to use and extend to reach high places. Has stayed sharp and battery lasts as long no as when new. Very satisfied.

Great little saw/hedgie

Saw and hedge trimmer combo is GREAT! I don't use the strap. I did buy a 3rd battery - and an extra blade for the saw. The saw went through hard, old Beech, Oak and Maple limbs with only a little trouble. It handles softwood like a champ! The battery went about 4 hours of regular usage in a climbing environment before it got tired. It also got dropped from about 3 stories up and didn't break! I have used it very heavily and ended up smashing it (on purpose) in a problem tree which was binding up in a weird angle. I did it on purpose because I needed to make the cut and knew it was going to kick. Better it got crushed than than me! Have used the trimmer a little -- it handled up to about 1" sticks well. Above that size, it struggled . . . but I did expect that.

The tool works great and is a lot lighter than others I've tried. I also purchased the hedge trimmer which I've only used once but performed perfectly. The reason I can't give Greenworks a five star is the difficulty in removing the battery from the tool. I had read this before in other reviews and there has been no improvement as yet.

Get a Lot of Work Done

Bought this tool recently and it is handy. I like the portable aspect and ease of use. No need for extension cords, or struggling with small motors with gummed up fuel systems. This tool is fast. I can get a lot of work done in a short time, but it is somewhat tiring due to the long handle. The extended reach allow me trim hedges from the ground without using a ladder. The chain saw is really handy for trimming trees. It stays charged and does what it is supposed to.
