[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to help trim some taller trees in my yard. First I was impressed with the cutting power, it was more than I was expecting. Battery life was plenty for what I was doing. Tool made my work much easier and simple. After this I purchased a weed eater, chainsaw and hedge trimmer! I love greenworks products, good quality and affordability!
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far (mostly) so good; I haven't had a chance to use the saw part, but the hedge trimmer was great. HOWEVER, the new style of 40v gmax batteries are a complete joke. The battery life is absolutely abysmal compared to the old style and the chargers also are just different enough where the batteries are not interchangeable.
The tools seem to work well and time will tell how well they are made (the brushless weedwhacker I've had to buy twice over the years for instance), but if you can avoid this bundle with the battery and it's junk. Look online on how to buy the old style GMax 40v batteries which actually hold a charge.
Pros: Quiet, Effective

Hello Chris D. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the hedge trimmer so far, though we are sorry to hear of your disappointment with the newer 40V G-MAX batteries. Run time can vary depending on the battery’s amp-hour rating and the tool/application, and we want to make sure you are getting the performance you expect. The newer batteries are designed to be compatible with all 40V G-MAX tools, but we’d be happy to take a closer look at your situation and provide support. Please reach out to us via Live Chat at www.greenworkstools.com or call our toll-free helpline on 1-888-909-6757 so our team can assist.

Constant issues.

This is the one tool I've had an issue with from Greenworks from the start. Wherever you cut you're gonna have oil shooting out that direction a food 3-5 feet and the saw blade constantly pops off of the bar. Greenworks has a lot of good tools that are reliable and last, but skip this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello ReeseJ. We are sorry to hear about the challenges you have run into with your polesaw. The two problems you mentioned are often related, as excessive oiling and a loose chain can both result from issues with the oiler, chain tension, or even a damaged bar. During normal saw operation, the chain heats up and expands. For a properly tensioned warm chain, the drive links should hang about 1/16 in. (1.58 mm) out of the bar. Since new chains tend to stretch more, it’s important to check the tension frequently and adjust as needed. We also have a helpful video showing how to tension the chain properly, which you can watch here: Chain Tensioning Guide (https://youtu.be/4QpmDCslvU8?t=132). For the oiling system, here are a few steps to check: 1. Confirm you are using the correct bar and chain oil and that it is not too thin. 2. Remove the bar and inspect the small oil outlet hole—use a pick or thin wire to clear any debris. 3. With the bar removed, briefly run the saw over a light-colored surface (such as cardboard). A healthy saw should leave a light line of oil, not a heavy spray. If you continue to experience excessive oil spraying after these steps, the issue may be due to a deeper clog or a faulty oil pump. In that case, please reach out to our support team so we can assist further. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat with an Expert” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent I Monday - Friday: 9:30AM – 5PM EST or by calling 1-888-909-6757 between 9AM and 7PM EST, M-F. Saturday: 9AM to 5PM EST. Sunday: 9AM to 5PM EST. So, our experts can discuss your experience; please have your unit, battery and charger with you along with the model and serial number to complete troubleshooting to ensure quick resolution is provided. *Hours are subject to change.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little pole saw is a must for most homeowners. If you live on your property for any amount of time, trees do grow! You can keep your nicely trimmed and out of your way. We live on a farm, so I am always trimming trees to access mowing and prevent hazards. The saw has a good run time on the 40V and I have found it to be up to most tasks. Buy one, you won't regret it - P.S> an much cheaper than having tree folks out to your place!
