Good Saw

I bought this saw and it works as it should. The problem I have is that the bar oil leaks when the saw is not being used. It makes a mess if you forget about the leaking oil

Hello Jimbob2431,
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We would like to take the opportunity to address your concern regarding bar oil leaking. If you are experiencing leaking, try loosening the oil cap to release any vacuum that may have built up, as it can hold the pump open slightly, causing oil to flow past. However, we do advise that if you are storing your unit for a period of time to empty out the oil reservoir. We also recommend wiping down the chain saw after use, as this will reduce oils that are left on the bar and chain from pooling. Please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 should you have further questions or concerns.

Battery lasted 8 minutes

On the second attempt of using this new chainsaw, the battery lasted a total of 8 minutes. After placing the spent battery on the charger, it showed up green, like it was fully charged, yet the indicator button on the battery itself wouldn’t even register a bar. I do not feel comfortable trying to fell a tree with it. What happens if I get half way through and the battery dies? That leaves me in a very unfortunate and dangerous situation. My 12” 40v Greenworks chainsaw battery lasted close to 3 hours when new. This is a great tool, minus the life of the battery.

Hello Nscholl,
Thank you for your review. The chainsaw's runtime is not measured by how long it will last but rather how many cuts if can do. On a single charge this chainsaw will do up to 150 cuts on 4x4 wood. Once the chain saw has been established, the battery life should slowly start extending as the tool will not have to work as hard. However, until then the unit is under additional stress which results in the battery draining quickly. For further information, please contact our helpline at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). Thank you for your feedback!

Works well, battery not great

I remove a lot of trees every year, so I am not your average consumer. This saw is for my ground person. The saw overall works well. However, even with the 40V 4AH battery, the runtime is not great. But, if you are mostly limbing or making a smaller number of cuts, this is a very reasonable saw.

I have enjoyed mine. It cuts well and battery last a fair time. Only draw back is the chain keeps jumping off.

I have used the saw to cut down about 5-6 trees of about 6"-10" in diameter and it has worked fairly well. I like that it is much quieter and easier to start than gas saws. My only complaint is it only comes with one battery. Would be nice for it to have included 2. I am fixing that issue by ordering a pole saw now.

Leaks bar & chain oil when stored
on December 18, 2021

I bought this chainsaw in 03/2020. This winter I stored it in the basement like I did the first year, but when I picked it up, it had leaked all of the bar & chain oil. What a mess. The manual I got back in early 2020 did not mention to remove the oil when storing it. The new manual for this unit that I pulled up on line now does say to remove the oil.

Hello Shoe,
Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear about the issue that you have encountered. We greatly appreciate your honest feedback as it gives us a better understanding of where we need to improve moving forward. We are sorry to hear this information was missing from your manual, all our our Chain manual's do provide the following note, "It is normal for oil to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank after each use then run for one minute. When storing the unit for a long period of time (three months or longer) be sure the chain is lightly lubricated; this will prevent rust on the chain and bar sprocket". Perhaps it was missed nonetheless, we will pass this review along to the proper channels to investigate. If you have further questions and would like us to look into this with you, we would be more than happy to discuss. 1-888-909-6757.
