My second Greenworks saw

I bought this saw to have a lighter saw for use at home. I have a Greenworks 80V saw for farm use some distance away. Both saws are well worth the money.
I don't use chainsaws enough to be comfortable with them. An electric saw is simpler to operate and seems to me to be safer--less noise, no smoke, and you don't start the saw until you have it in position to make the cut. The batteries have all the capacity that I need and more. If you plan on doing extended saw work you may want a second battery.

I would've given this chainsaw 5 stars, if not for two things, 1st chainsaw doesn't come with oil,(can't use it, out of the box) 2nd I would've liked a longer Battery time (charged battery a full day before using). Other than those things, Good weight,, easy start up, Stop is on point. Cutting down a 10foot Yucca, was nothing.

Exceeded Expectations!

I live on a 2 acre heavily treed lot that needs periodic pruning and, at times, tree removal. I started looking at and comparing gas powered chainsaws and ran across many professional "chainsaw tests" that included battery powered saws. To my surprise, the testers ranked the Greenworks saws at the top along with the gas saws.
I came to the conclusion that my chainsaw is something I will use a few weeks a year and the rest of the time it will sit in the garage. My mind immediately went to the dreaded task of trying to start a gas chain saw after it has sat for 6 months. Not to mention the vibration, noise level and exhaust smell. So I decided battery powered was the best fit for me.
After way too much research and comparing Greenworks with another brand, I decided on this Greenworks saw based on 1) Price 2) Performance in the tests and 3) the other tools in the 40v family are also affordable. It would be easy to grow into some of the other tools in the Greenworks brand.
I've cut probably 12 hours over several weekends now - I love this saw!!! I’ve already sharpened the blade once. The saw completely blew away my expectations. I know the tests results that I read said it performed as well as the gas… but I guess for some reason I expected “less” than gas. It cuts with ease through massive trees and all different types of wood. I probably cut down 5 trees and made well over 100 cuts before I was tired and had to take a break… the battery on this thing was still going strong. I put the battery on the charger while I took a break and then I started back up with an additional battery I had purchased. With 2 batteries, this saw could go all day and outlast me. (the batteries will not charge when they are warm, so I put the battery in the fridge for 10 minutes and then put it on the charger).
Pros: Quiet. Smooth – no vibration. Easy to maneuver and hold. Easy to adjust the chain (as it works just like a gas saw). Oil reservoir is easy to access and fill.
Cons: The battery can’t charge when it’s warm. But a few minutes in the fridge fixed that.

I've had many gasoline chainsaws over the years and this saw cuts as good or better than any and is so much simpler to use, love it.

I have used my chainsaw on many different occasions, owning it for about a year now. It has never failed to impress me. The battery life is so much longer than you would expect. Only once or twice have I managed to outlast the charge. :) I've cut up downed trees following a tornador and done general limb/branch cleanup around my property. It exceeds my expectations every time I use it. It is easy to use and any needed maintenance is simple. I love that I can share the batteries among the Greenworks pole saw, trimmer and hedge clipper that I also purchased. What a great product!

It has passed the test of time

I purchased this chainsaw several years ago ( when it was first available ). I use it all around our 35 acre property for trimming, pruning, removal of dead falls and even some firewood cutting. I was skeptical at first of a cordless saw but have become a true believer. It is lightweight, has excellent power and the battery is more than adequate for my needs. All in all the saw has surpassed my expectations and over the past several years has held up well, is durable and has passed the test of time.

I bought this about 5 years ago a16 blade green work brushless chainsaw. And I just want to say that it is the best chainsaw I have ever used and I bought another one because the other one I used to death I cut my own wood and I split it not with the chainsaw but with aynax but I have found that this product is the best thank you.
